A well known racing farm recomended OCD pellets to me for my 3yo that is in training. I've heard nothing, but great reviews and would like to pick some up. I found it on the web for a whopping $89 for a 2 months supply. Anyone know of anywhere else I can get it cheaper? ? Just thought I'd give it a shot! www.ocdpellets.com/shop/

Animaldoc - I know of several TB farms that are feeding these as a "preventative".
Fancyhorse - sorry, every place that I have seen them are as pricey (or more) than what you have seen.

The $89 is the cheapest you can get it. If you order directly from the manufacturer's website, with your first order of the small ($89)bucket you will get one free. I have a couple of them on it and it does work. It is pricey if you try and use it on a lot of horses.

So the problem I have is that the ingredients (and it doesn't say how much of each thing is in the pellets) have not been shown to appear in therapeutic levels in the joint after oral administration. The Corta-Flex that they talk about is basically glucosamine/chondroitin and the only combination of those ingredients that has been studied and published in peer-reviewed literature is Cosequin (other products with different amounts of each have not been studied extensively). Even the study they link to wasn't peer-reviewed and was done in horses with DJD, not OCD. Hyaluronic Acid hasn't been shown to reach the joint after oral administration either. I would probably save my money and treat affected horses rather than trying to use it preventively, but that's just me!

I'm going to pick up some. With racehorses you need as much preventive as you can get! My horse is on the Glucosamine Pure Powder, which has 25,000mg per ounce (no kidding), but he travels rought at higher speeds. He is a BIG boy who grew too big too fast. The vet has looked at him several times and cannot find a thing wrong with him. I'm going to try this batch and see if anything improves! Its been recomended by several top racing farms so I thought I'd give it a shot! Thanks for all the input!
