In Romulus, Mi.
The track location is set for a vacant piece of land in Romulus that sits in Huron Township and Wayne County. The first live race is scheduled for July 18th of this year.
According to the Horse Racing law of 1995, as amended, only three track licenses can be issued in the metro-Detroit area. This license was once held by Detroit Race Course and then issued to Magna Entertainment who relinquished it before construction in the summer of 2007. Great Lakes Downs, a thoroughbred track in Muskegon, closed its doors in the fall of 2007.
During 2008, Michigan horse racing will celebrate its 75th Anniversary of pari-mutuel horse racing.

I was glad to hear that thoroughbred racing will remain in MI. I hear this track will even have a turf course. Sounds like a step up from GLD!

It sure does, doesn't it? Good news about the turf course too, I once took care of a gelding that could run sooo fast on grass, but put the poor guy on a regular track and he just couldn't keep up.
