Colic help! I have 2 thoroughbreds, and 1 is a hardkeeper who had frequent colic attacks. I was desperate to find something to help him, as his attacks were getting more frequent! The owner of the rescue barn where my horses are kept, brainstormed with me about using baking soda as an neutralizer for stomach acids. We had nothing to lose, so 2 years ago, we added a tablespoon of baking soda to my horses supplements everyday, and he has not had a reoccurance since! Today, I have 8 throughbreds, and a few appy`s and a quarterhorse in my study group, and we have not had a single colic issue since they have all gone on the baking soda additive! I am trying to help others who may be battling with colic like we all were! My results were posted on the partnersinthoroughbreds.com webpage, as the editor felt it was amazing! I believe this posting is now a permanent part of their library! Please contact me if anyone needs further information! All my research has not shown baking soda to have any side effects for horses! I use 1 tablespoon of baking soda to the supplements once a day. That`s it! Hope I can help others! Alisa
