Horse Yoga: Has anybody had any experience with it? Is it effective?
I'm reading a book on it, and I think I'd like to give it a try. Since my "New Project" (Rosa), can only really walk and trot, I was thinking we could spend some time wandering around the arena while I get my yoga on. It'll give me something to do while she builds her confidence up. I have no problems with simply dropping the reins and letting her wander - although she's just new, she responds perfectly to the slightest leg commands and change in seat. She's also trained to 'whoa', 'walk' and 'trot' with simple voice commands. For a beginner, she's learned a lot, and fast.
I also want something that will help with my back, and my flexibility. Horseback riding - and more specifically, those lovely emergency dismounts into and onto jumps - have given me numerous back problems. Does anybody else have this problem, and do they have any advice on how to fix it/deal with it?
The Yoga seems kind of fun - I've done some of it on the ground - and it looks fairly easy (a major bonus). Anybody have any comments or horsy-yoga stories?
