The woman who runs the local franchise lives around the corner from me. I casually asked her about memberships, and the next thing I know, I'm being oh-so-skillfully invited to join for half-price--whenever I am ready. Then I went off to Kohls today with a gift card (thanks, Dad) and came home with tennies and sweatpants. So, now I think I have to do it.
Anybody else tried this? I need lots of moral support, because I am mildly allergic to exercise. ;D

I haven't ever joined Curves, but from what I have heard, it is pretty good. Just make sure the first several times through you have someone (certified) show you proper form. That way you will get the quickest results without running the risk of stressing your joints.
Good luck!

I did it for a bit..I was told I need to not try so hard. It's worked well for a some people that I know that have done it.

Not trying so hard...I can DO that! Yes, I will definitely need instruction, and I will present myself as the hopeless non-jock that I am. They will know in a heartbeat that I need lots of direction. Actually, I've been avoiding this for a couple of years because someone I know who always makes me feel like a worm has been an active member there. I'm hoping by now she's gone on to bigger and better things so I can grunt and groan in peace.

The big thing with Curves is they tell you to work to your own ability. Little to no pressure or competition aspect (which can be found sometimes at gyms). As soon as you go in, they'll supervise you if you're new and show you how to do everything. It actually moves pretty quickly (30-60 seconds per station if I'm remembering right) so the time moves fairly quickly.

I went in today and got the complete tour and introduction. Did two rounds, got my heart rate up, and it was just fine. Apparently, I am the last woman in town to join. No surprise. I think I'll give this a try for a while.

Not a member, but I've delivered to a few Curves places. Everyone (staff and customers) seems happy and friendly at all of them. Sooooo, have fun.
