Ok, so after noticing the big load in back...I decided to try the South Beach. I'm a HUGE carb/sugar eater and this diet is on day two. I have had this horrible headache all day, as in almost migraine level. Have any of you experienced this with sugar withdrawals? Aaaaaaaaaaaa

how much water are you drinking? dehydration is a possiblity since you aren't eating any sugar and so the body is having to mobilize glycogen stores. Sugar in teh body is stored with water too, so it might just be a simple case of dehydration.

in addition, if you drink sodas that have caffeine in it, and you are cutting them out abruptly, you are suseptable to some headaches from the withdrawl

Just to warn you, my psychology teacher said that carbohydrates help you think better. Just eating protein and no carbs can really slow your thinking down. I hope the best for you though, I don't really have any tips. Eat a banana? idk.

All I can suggest is to make sure you drink and eat enough. If you're having trouble following the diet, try weaning yourself to it. Start using South Beach for breakfast, then after a few days add lunch. I don't like following Atkins, South Beach etc, because I don't believe in cutting out food groups. But every diet is different, so good luck!

Ok, so I figured I wasn't drinking enough even though I was drinking more than usual. I ended up getting up and going to the bathroom all night! BUT today I feel much better. I actually like this diet and am feeling much better energy wise, although I died last night about 5pm. I just drank a V8. This isn't a total carb elimination diet. It's actually eliminating most of the 'not good' carbs. I eat tons of veggies that have carbs in them as well as meats and lean amount of fats. Thanks for the advice! As for the soda's, I have one diet coke a day with my dinner. I've found those crystal light "to go" packets that fit inside my water bottle. I love the raspberry ice! It tastes like Snapple Raspberry drink!

Science nerd explanation for this: Your brain can only use glucose as a fuel source, so when you eat simple carbohydrates, they are broken down into simple sugar molecules like glucose. its a simple process and so its easy for the brain to get fuel. When you eat protein and fats, its a bit harder because these arent broken down into glucose, they are processed into essential amino acids and fatty acids, respectively. While you can make glucose from amino acids and fats, its a longer more energy-costly process than just simply breaking down carbs. =)

Try taking the normal Crystal Light lemonade and adding some lime juice concentrate. Very tasty!
