Bread Pudding has become my comfort food!! I love that stuff. My Mom used to make it all the time. I'm bad!!!!

I happened to watch Paula Dean making bread pudding out of Krispy kreme doughnuts. OMG it looked so good. My granny had a great recipe for tht and for custard. yum, yum

Oh Terrie, what am I to do!!! The Bread Pudding is just to easy to make!! I am helpless to cave-in to it. Max is just no help!! He likes it to well, too. I am fighting a battle with myself to keep from posting just how easy it is to make. The Heavens and our DR's only know how unhealthy it is for us with all those eggs and the bread!!! ACK....

Brooks, Welcome!!! ..You want the recipe for Bread Pudding? If you like French Toast, you'll love Bread Pudding... I really, honestly and most truthfully am not intentionally undermining anyones attempt to eat healthier and get fit. I reckon I'm just incorrigible or comfortable having a Grandmotherly figure. I fought a long, difficult and for the most part a successful battle at keeping my weight down when I was younger, but I really had to work diligently at it.

Okie Doke, here goes:
Preheat Oven at 325 degrees I use a 9-in round layer cake pan Using a bread knife cut 5 slices of bread into cubes; no specific size; just roughly 1-in give or take. Put the bread cubes in the pan and set aside.
In a bowl put 5 cracked eggs; beat lightly. Add 2 cups milk, 1/3 cup sugar, 1/2 tsp Vanilla. 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg and 1/4 tsp salt. Beat with a whisk to blend all ingredients. Pour the egg mixture over the cubed bread. Bake for 45 minutes.. When a knife inserted in the center comes out clean it's done. Oh So very YUMMY.

OK ya'll here's Cooking Light's Bread Pudding Recipe, and it is good!
Pumpkin Bread Pudding
Ingredients 1 1/4 cups 2% reduced-fat milk 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin-pie spice 3 large eggs, lightly beaten 1 (15-ounce) can pumpkin 4 1/2 cups (1/2-inch) cubed challah or other egg bread (about 8 ounces) Cooking spray 1/2 cup maple syrup 1/4 cup chopped pecans, toasted
Preparation Combine first 5 ingredients in a large bowl, stirring well with a whisk. Add bread, tossing gently to coat. Spoon mixture into an 8-inch square baking dish coated with cooking spray. Cover with foil; chill 30 minutes or up to 4 hours. Preheat oven to 350°.
Place dish in a 13 x 9-inch baking pan; add hot water to pan to a depth of 1 inch. Bake, covered, at 350° for 25 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 10 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. Serve each bread pudding piece warm with about 1 tablespoon syrup and 1 1/2 teaspoons pecans.

Brooks!! Not all 5 eggs are eaten at one time!! ;D I do totally understand your response to the 5 eggs, though. ;D The pudding keeps well in the frig for several days so that only a portion is eaten at one setting. Shelby, your recipe sounds so very good, too. I loff pumpkin made in any form!!

mmmm....um, paula dean's recipe? holy cow - bread pudding made with krispy kremes? is she high? sometimes i think she's paid by the pharmaceutical companies to woo people into unhealthy eating....

Shelby, your recipe sounds so very good, too. I loff pumpkin made in any form!! Deb I love it too! I have collected so many pumpkin recipes that are light, or I have made using better-for-you ingredients - and I absolutely think pumpkin's the best pie in the whole world!

Shelby, here's a pumpkin dip recipe that is so very YEEHAW yummy. Maybe it could be redone to be healthier? Or not? It tastes just like pumpkin pie!!
In a bowl soften 8-oz cream cheese 1 cup confectioners powdered sugar 1 can unseasoned pumpkin 1/2 tsp cinnamon, I think I upped it to 1 tsp 1/4 tsp nutmeg
Mix all the ingredients and stir/blend 'til smooth. Use Vanilla Wafers or Graham Crackers for dipping. Oh Mercy, it's good!!! This one keeps well refrigerated for a couple of days....
Me thinks my Mother taught me to cook to well.... ;D
