I picked it up at the Library and am thoroughly enjoying it. I even found this on You Tube...I saw this movie years ago and LOVED it. It's not available on DVD but I found it on Amazon (VHS) and just bought it. "L'amour est un oiseau rebelle que nul ne peut apprivoiser..." Memories... www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYw_d4isSeY

I have no idea what that says. My love was a rebel and everyone hated him?

That's wonderful, Niaru! Have you ever listened to Filippa Giordano? Purists hate her, so you may do, but I love her. It's (of course) all the great arias, Carmen included. Her 'Casta Diva' makes me cry - but listen to her, don't look! Close your eyes and just listen to her voice www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1heO5DaqZw&mode=related&search=Here's another favourite of mine, Claire ... Now she is worth watching! Should be in a leather catsuit and high boots, don't you think? Have you ever seen an orchestra respond like this to a soloist?? But then I am a long-time Bach fanatic.. youtube.com/watch?v=3jey-OmaKUM&mode=related&search=And, of course, Safety Dance ...

LOL! Something like that, Lynne.. What is it, Claire? "Love is a rebellious bird whom no-one can tame"?
I'll buy that ...

I'm reading Bel Canto now and while I find it compelling, it doesnt have my rapt and undue attention. They are making a movie though...maybe i'll wait till that comes out to see how it ends

That's it Bara! A rebellious bird! I'm not an opera fan but some of those arias just are too good to resist! Hey, I'm a Bach fan too! Used to play Bach on the piano, eons ago...And I find singing it while trotting works really well to get a nice rythm going in dressage. Now this Vanessa-Mae is just an amazing violonist! Allie, it's definitely not a thriller, and I admit I skipped some lengthy descriptions, but I found it an interesting read. Didn't care much for the epilogue (the end itself is ok)... I thought it might become a movie.

LOL! OK - Bel Canto is on my Amazon order .. Good heavens, Claire - a pianist? I would love to be able to play, but alas ... I shall try trotting to Bach, but I fear Forry is more of a Nursery Rhyme sort of horse ... No, I'm not an opera buff, either, I tend to snore ... But the big arias are wonderful. And (snort) Vanessa-Mae is absolutely horrible - youth, beauty, talent and presence. Again, the purists hate her, which is probably why I like her!! I knew I'd seen her in more ... err .. sultry gear somewhere ... youtube.com/watch?v=nQ798THmR5Y&mode=related&search=The puppy is looking forward to meeting her French cousin ... wouldn't it be nice if we COULD make it over to Provence next time ... sigh.

Thanks for those links! The puppy is looking forward to meeting her French cousin ... wouldn't it be nice if we COULD make it over to Provence next time ... sigh. You BETTER. Or else you have to come to the US but then lil Lexi-loo will not be able to meet her Franco-american fluffy cousin...

I just finished this book on my bazillion hours flight back from the Carribean. It was definately a decent book. Not on my top ten but definately an interesting read for sure. A book that just reiterates how we should live life.

It's next on my list waiting on my bedside table. Finished Brick Lane and Trencombe's Nose - persevering with Atonement. Nest - Bel Canto ..
