The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien was published Sept 21, 1937.

Thank you for such a wonderful story that opened up a whole wonderful world to me.


The Hobbit is the story that begins the long journey of a hobbit and a ring. In a place called Middle Earth. The story continues in the trilogy The Lord of The Rings. If you have never read it your missing a great book.

I have read it many times. My dad first read it to me when I was a kid and I just loved it.

When I first came to the US about 20 years ago I went into an Old Books store and picked it up for $1. Great book! I'd never heard of Tolkien before. I have to read it again, and make my kids read it too.

Added to say that the Return of the King was first published today in 1955. This book completed the trilogy.

Love the Tolkein books, hmm...bout time I read them again and winter is coming!
