I am reading FOUR books at once: All books mentioned on this board: Harry Potter, The Forest Lover, Omnivore's Dilemma and some trashy horse/detective thing which I think I myself recommended! This is going to take forever.

HOW can you do that? I can see reading a novel while reading the Omnivore's Dilemma but I can't read two novels at once. And you should SEE my To-Be-Read pile!!!! Insane because of this board!!!

You are partly responsible, Lynne! I couldn't wait to read the Pollan book so I could talk about it with you! By the way, it's going to ruin my life.

Yes! It's ruining my life too! You've already finished it haven't you? I'm still only about a third of the way through due to the start of school....but I WILL finish it. It creates an interesting feel.
Off to pick and can tomatoes now.

No, I am still reading Omnivore. Done with the corn chapter, on to the Polyface Farm chapter, which is heartening so far. But I think I may have to become a vegetarian now. Bruce is oh-so-wisely NOT saying he told me so. But THEN...I had to go and check out a book about brain development. What is wrong with me?! I don't DO nonfiction! I have to quit the dumb mystery book now just so I can still say I am only reading 4 books at once. (Poetry, newspapers and magazines don't count, right?)

Good! We're about at the same place now. I've stopped eating school lunches. I can just imagine.......UCHT!
I didn't know all the political corn history though. The rest I guess I pretty much knew but kept safely tucked away....
And I do see the industrialized organic point. Hmmmm....ponder, ponder.

The Trans-Siberian Railroad................interesting! I do so hope Bara analyzes.....I think I'll have to reread it a few times myself. Hmmmmm................
I've thoroughly enjoyed his writing so far and think it is perfect for schools-in reading. Short stories. Brialliant. Thank you for the suggestion!!!

Hey Ann....how do you dig the Harry Potter's? I LOVED the first one and read it in one day but after the second one I lost interest. I guess that is unacceptable. LOL

HP is fine. But I have zeroed in on the food book, and Harry must wait. This is ruining my life. I am in Pennsylvania and refused to buy blueberries from California, because I KNOW they grow blueberries here! Why doesn't the grocer stock them? I'm going all-out radical on this. And what's more, my apple-berry crisp had to be apple crisp for precisely this reason. (It was eaten without complaint last night, however.) Going back to the cottage to read and eat more fresh veggies.
