Just finished it. Pretty good read and has horses all through it, though there are some traumatic moments.

Hmmm - it sounds fascinating, Claire - though I don't do 'trauma and animals' too terribly well.
I shall look it up. Thanks. B

Sorry to disagree, but I read it, and was disappointed. I don't like stories with no resolution.

I know what you mean Thea, sometimes we like our neat and tidy happy endings, but I think this one was okay. Not the most cheerful book I'll admit. I'm reading a book about 3 day eventing grooms now.

I assume you're reading the one about the O'Connors groom, among others. If not, is there another one!?

That's the one. Have you read it?

Yes I have. I always wanted to be a professional show groom, until my Clingons came along. This book showed me that maybe it was more work and commitment than I really wanted! I just happen to like weekend grooming.

I liked God of Animals - but I'm prone to liking gloomy dark books. (Cormac McCarthy's trilogy, for example). I find them meatier, somehow, as they often go deep into the complexities of the characters - although as I age I need the "humans are flawed" message less and less.
