Is anyone working on the 10th Circle? I got my copy and am a few chapters in (though I tend to skep the comic parts). Just wondered if anyone else was trying it now too.

EEEEEEEEK! I know I'm a fuddy-duddy.....but there I was laying in the hammock under the trees as I read page 47 (DON"T read ahead) BUT...... tell me that isn't real. Really? I teach. I should be more in touch. Those are fiction, right?

I hope you enjoy the Kite Runner. The story was so interesting to me but there was somethin about the "writing" that drove me off....I don't know if was sentences, names, hell....it could have even been the font in my copy....lol.
I might try that again too. We'll see once I suffer (meaning experience, not the writing) 10th Spiral.

Oh. Sorry. Well.....I didn't SAY what happened or what I was talking about. I can say that the book.......isn't altogether uplifting but it has moved me a bit more now that I'm further into it.
You know....we listed three books, I'd read the first two (elephant and 13th tale) so I'm reading this one if it takes everything. (I say as I play on the computer)

Hmm. I must have a different edition, pages 47 and 69 were relatively harmless but, I reckon I know which passages you mean She's FOURTEEN! ok - This book grew on me. It was an effort to get into it, but it was certainly wide-ranging in terms of themes and geography! And the little .. err ... 'device' annoyed me at first, but then I understood. I didn't bother with the - 'little exercise' - she sets at the end, and am far too blinkered to have spotted it whilst reading. Did you spot it, Lynne? Sigh.

I feel like I need to go and read this book just to figure out what you'all are talking about!

Yes, Julia. It was a bit difficult to get into, I think a few of us found that. But, in fact, quite engrossing if you stick with it. I had ordered two of her books, and so have just finished the second one : 'My Sister's Keeper'. Again, a rather dark, family theme. Odd style, I thought. I don't think she'll become among my favourite authors, but it's fab to have all these recommendations to try. I've just started the Time Traveller's Wife - not very far into it yet -but already really intrigued. Ain't it great! All these recommendations!

Oooh, Bara, I like My Sisters Keeper far better and found it easier to get into. Like you once I was into 10th circle I tore threw it (unfortunately so did Bindi when I left it outside on the porch chair! It's in sad shape now).
Yes, she's FOURTEEN and I had no idea such things (refer to passages) existed and am both grateful and feel ignorant as a result.
I'm not sure about the "little exercise" but I did see some of it coming....that part was obvious. I was intrigued by the eskimo culture and beliefs....I could kind of get into that.
I think it leaves you with a decision or question at the end (as did My Sister's Keeper!). Were you able to decide on an answer?
