I'm glad she didn't break down in a race, but I will miss watching her tear up the track. She was one heckuva racehorse and had a lot of popularity beyond racing going for her.

Sorry . . . for any confusion, just a farewell from the spotlight. Yes, off to be a mommy, which I really don't agree with - she's had injuries throughout her career. The TB breed is already pretty fragile as it is - and yes I do understand what an investment she is - but we really should try to breed durability back into the breed . . .just my thought.

That scared me too for a minute. You know, you hear a lot about old fashioned TBs and how they were much more durable, but I wonder at that. I read about Citation being the first horse to win over a million and they kept him racing so that he would meet that milestone when so many said he should have retired after winning the Triple Crown. That was back in the 1940's. I don't think TBs are any more fragile than any other breed. They are just pushed much harder and speed kills.
But anyway, Rags is a beautiful mare and wicked fast. Looking forward to seeing her babies.

I'm thrilled they retired her, before she got hurt. I couldn't bear to watch another Ruffian or Pine Island scenario. I look forward to seeing her babies

She was sold as a yearling for $1.9mil and have made over $1.4mil. They plan on her first breeding to be by Gaint's Cosway! Holy cow, now that foal will be worth a HUGE amount and talk about a GREAT cross!!!! Can't wait to see that foal!
