I think I'm going to drive up to NY just to see her run in it. Even if she doesn't win, she's such an amazing filly, and I've longed to see her run in person.

She's going in the Belmont? Excellent! I love to root for a filly. Go Rags!
She's got a shot. Jazil is her half brother (won last year's Belmont). The two couldn't look more different though. He's little, dark and no white; she's big, red and a lot of chrome.

I bet on Jazil to win last year. I'd love to see this filly win, tho' I think Curlin will be tough to beat.

She's definitely got her work cut out for her - breeding alone doesn't win a race, but what a pedigree she has! Daddy was a Belmont winner. Daddy's daddy was a TC winner. Dad's mom's dad was the immortal Secretariat. Her mom was no slouch of a racehorse and of course, produced last year's Belmont winner.
I'm going to make the trek. Win or lose, it may be one of the only opportunities I have to see her run, and she is impressive when she unwinds.

She's a sentimental favorite of mine too - that big red face with the big white blaze reminds me of another classic winning filly.
However, if Rags doesn't get the job done, my money's on Hard Spun. He's gritty, and by Danzig (super sire, and sired Belmont winner Danzig Connection) out of a Turkoman mare.
It will be an exciting race!

Wow, great race! johnnysauntie, I love hard Spun. He is such an impressive colt. He is also big and is it my imagination or did he run a bit green yet? I wonder if he needs to mature a bit and will be steller in future races?

It was so worth the trip! Every race had safe trips and she was awesome!
CC, Hard Spun was the most chisled of any of the horses, muscle on muscle on that boy. I think his 4 year old season would have been amazing to watch. Unfortunately, Darley bought him and Street Sense both and we'll never get to see them run beyond this year. He fought his jockey a good bit in this and the Preakness, wanted to run, run, run.
You couldn't have asked for a better race than the Belmont shaped up to be in my opinion. I was right on the rail at the 1/8th pole - love to watch races there, most are won or lost from the final turn to that point. What amazed me most was how calm she was before and after the race. Curlin seemed a bit upset during the post parade.
Belmont has the best deal for the big 3 races - you can get in for the admission price and get on the rail if you are willing to get there early - nice grassy area.
I'll post some pictures, but they aren't the greatest due to the weather. Can't use a flash, of course, and it was pretty dark by race time.
