I grew up in KY. That's a pretty decent recipe and the main one served at the Derby. I prefer ot use a different Bourbon though. I think Bulleit is the best - smoother than ET, and not one of the ultra expensive ones.

i don't like 'em so sweet, so i steep the mint in whiskey, and just add a tiny bit of sugar at the end. johnnysauntie, you are entirely correct! damn, that's a hangover. but it will be cinco de mayo and derby day? so i'll have a margarita in one hand, and a julep in the other???
