Nicencozy's first race!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our girl, NICENCOZY has finally made it to her first race. Some of you might remember the updates as we were just breaking her! Oh, how we are so excited! So, here is the 411 on the race!
We don't expect her to do much of anything in her first race. We want to use this race as a workout for upcoming longer distance races. Cheer us on anyways, though!

Track: Santa Anita Park
Date:March 8th
Race: 8
Distance: Five And One Half Furlongs
Race Type: Maiden Claiming Purse: $17000

Race conditions: FOR MAIDENS, FILLIES AND MARES FOUR YEARS OLD AND UPWARD. Weight, 122 lbs. Claiming Price $25,000.

Results -

We she didn't run too bad, considering she has never been to another track, nor the walking ring, nor the paddock, nor ran with more then 2 horses!!! She showed so much class. Never broke a sweat, never got nervous, she acted as if she had been there done that!

She broke super slow, she tried, but it looked as if she was running in place! LOL That is just the way she breaks. Then she was 26 lengths behind and when the rider started riding her down the lane she started picking it up and ended up beating 1 horse, but she only got beat by 16 lengths. She made up 10 lengths in 1/4 of a mile!!! Then she galloped out very strong past all 12 of the horses and came back to the barn not even breathing hard! She is going to run a mile next time! We are very proud of her and it was a great first time expierence for her!

Sounds like a good first race. She'll learn a lot from it. I bet she'll like running long better. At least it sounds like she didn't get going really well until the end of the race. Good luck next time. Give the cutie a scratch for me!
