I watched Road come off the truck and despite his odd yearling looks, there was something about him. The bargain basement funny looking red colt was certainly the object of much speculation - why buy him, what good is he gonna be at that size (he matured at less than 15hh), etc. Well, by 2, Road had grown into his head, and his shoulders caught up to the high hips, and he filled out nicely, and, oh could that red colt FLY!!!! He took every 2yo race he was in, and at 3 was even faster, cleaning up all Alberta stakes he was eligible for, and going on to win other notable 3yo races such as the Cane Pace. He was something to see, and was a horse you never could forget after seeing him.
Rest in peace, Road.
My condolences to all his connections, past and present.
