Man O War? I was just checking out the pedigree of the little filly I'm going to see next weekend, and she has some of his blood running through her. So I clicked on him and followed links and followed links and ended up reliving my childhood fascination with Man O War. That big, red horse with a 30+ft odd stride. We all read Walter Farley's book didn't we??? I'm wondering if in my lifetime I'll ever get to see a horse as great as him, or if he is a once-in-forever kind of horse. I WISH I could've seen him run...

Man O War might be a once in a lifetime kind of horse, but he wasn't in our lifetime, so there will be another for us to see

Truly one of the greats! I was obsessed with him as a kid, read everything I could on him. Most put Secretariat right up there with him in terms of what they could do. Secretariat did amazing things on the dirt, but was also an ace on the grass. Too bad he was worth so much as a stud and I never got to see him race. In my opinion horses like these come along every 30-40 years or so. I think we're due for one.
