Is anyone going to be a Churchill downs? I'll probably spend the day at my track then watch the KY derby from home. I can't wait for the butterflies :butterfly: I get when they turn for home! It's definitely one of my favorite days of the year by far!
Countdown: 26 days!

Probably watching the Derby at home. I'd like to go to Great Lakes Downs to watch it, but I don't have anyone to go with

Um, it'll be about 1100PM when the Derby runs where I'll be. So don't know if I'll get to see it live or not.

Was going. Then tried to sell the extra tickets I got. They took the tickets away and banned me. Would have been my first time going. I don't know. I'm torn. Hate to be the "negative" voice on what used to be such a wonderful time for me.

I'll let you know Brooks as we plan our day around the Derby. ESPN has Breakfast at Churchill on all morning and we watch the other races too. At Derby time we switch to the NBC channel for the race. I love Derby Day.

Ok - who's going to be the contestants? I'm picking 3 right now. Sinister Minister - Lawyer Ron - Steppenwolfer. Any ideas on who you think; and time to put up your favorites. I picked Steppenwolfer because he is stabled about a mile from where I live.

Well, I think we should all chip in and buy one of those thousand dollar juleps..........the money goes to a fund for retired racehorses :sun: I'll go for Barbaro since he's from PENNSYLVANIA ;D Depending on the weather, I'll probably mow. Then around 4:30, I'll make tracks for the TV and try to get NBC. I usually have to hang out the window with the antenna to get a decent picture. It sure makes it difficult to watch. One year I did go up to Penn National, but was REALLY disappoined. They did NOTHING to make it a 'DERBY DAY'. Could hardly hear the monitor. Someone finally climbed on someone's shoulders and turned it up. It was just the race with none of the preliminaries. I like the pre-race stuff. You'd think the tracks would make it a 'special' day and have special stuff going on. All they're interested in is the gambling. They'd probably get more bets if they made it more fun

I have nothing going on that day and I am SO excited because my very favorite Derby ritual is to stay in my PJs all day and watch every single minute of pre-derby and derby coverage! :-)
