August 27, 2005
American Ideal continues to roll while Cams Fool rebounded in their respective $57,600 Cane Pace eliminations on Saturday afternoon at Freehold Raceway.
Cams Fool took the first split in 1:52.3 for driver Brian Sears and trainer Brett Pelling.
The son of Cams Card Shark attacked first over to haul down the pacesetting favourite, Jo Pas Shark, in the final strides while Robin Of Locksley and Revolutionary Foe rounded out the top four.
It was the fourth win of the season in 15 starts for the partnership of Jeffrey Snyder of New York, NY and the Lothlorien Equestrian Centre of Mississauga, ON.
American Ideal dominated his elimination for driver George Brennan and trainer Casie Coleman, who watched the son of Western Ideal front step his way to a wrapped up win in 1:52.2 over Royal Flush Shark, Marced Card and Village Jolt, who made a first turn miscue.
It was the fourth straight win and the eighth in 15 starts for partners Mac Nichol of St Albert, AB and Brittany Farms of Versailles, KY, who shelled out a supplemental payment to make the colt eligible.
A win in the final of the Cane Pace, which is slated for Monday, September 5, will permit the connections of American Ideal to supplement to the second jewel of the Triple Crown – the Little Brown Jug.
The matinee program also featured a pair of $21,934 Battle of Freehold eliminations for 2-year-old pacing colts and geldings.
In the first elimination it was the Maritime Canada invader, Feeling Friskie, who stepped to a 1:55.4 decision for driver Cat Manzi and owner/trainer Wayne Eric Whebby.
The son of Artiscape ousted Ralph And Richie, Jazzy Jeff and First Toy.
Manzi took the second elimination with General Bailey, who scored a passing lane victory over Tyrant Hanover, Four Starz Falcon and Cardmaster in a time of 1:59.1
Bill Popfinger trains the son of Falcon Seelster for the Piermont Farms Inc. of Piermont, NY.

If anyone is wondering why I keep posting about this horse, it is because his trainer is a woman...and has added to HER record the first female trainer to win the Meadowlands Pace and the Confederation Cup
