I have ALWAYS been into horse racing, but I've never placed a bet (well, I think I did a few times at L.A. county fair when I was younger). My step dad was raised working with his dad at Santa Anita - my brother was a chronic gambler at Turf Paradise (I went with him a lot)....and I watch the races when I can. My family watches and talks racing on a limited basis since bro is in recovery . But I'd really love to learn the ins-n-outs. Is there a book or manual...don't laugh! I'm serious!

DRF has a great glossary of terms that will explain everything. Go here www.drf.com/help/help_glossary.html Most of the books out there that I have seen just explain betting and how to handicap.

Just do what I did and go to a racetrack and buy a program. They always have an explanation of all the bets and it is fun
