I have ALWAYS been into horse racing, but I've never placed a bet (well, I think I did a few times at L.A. county fair when I was younger). My step dad was raised working with his dad at Santa Anita - my brother was a chronic gambler at Turf Paradise (I went with him a lot)....and I watch the races when I can. My family watches and talks racing on a limited basis since bro is in recovery

But I'd really love to learn the ins-n-outs. Is there a book or manual...don't laugh! I'm serious!

Go here www.drf.com/help/help_glossary.html Most of the books out there that I have seen just explain betting and how to handicap.

They always have an explanation of all the bets and it is fun

kaidensmom: Any stories or experience with a horse with strangles that is SOB? Gelding is currently hospitalized. On Penicillin and wasn't getting better so the vet just started horse on IV doses of DMSO. The abcesses are pharyngeal. Mar 13, 2017 22:41:03 GMT -5
