Ouch. I'd be crying buckets. I don't know how you do it. Sorry to hear this.

We had her for 3 years. You don't usually see that. It's all part of the game though. You just have to shrug it off. That's why you shouldn't get attached, because anyone can take them from you at anytime. As far as business is concerned, it was a good thing that she was claimed. But I will miss her. She was so good to ride. We will just have to keep tabs on her and see how she does.

You are right, and not just about claiming. All horses have one foot on the bannana peel, even the youngest. Anything can happen.
Is she in your future as a broodmare or retirement replacement candidate?
Andreas Amber, the dam of my mare, was claimed many times before her original owner and my Amber's breeder got her after she retired at 150 starts. She had 4 fillys for him ;D ;D ;D
I was never fortunate enough to meet her though.

Awwwww. Just don't know how you do it. You know me, I get way to attached. I know I'll cry if/when someone claims Toby from you.

Well, if we had still had her at the end of the year, we were going to retire her and market her as a broodmare. She's worth about 4k-5k as one. But, she's also completely sound and clean....so she could have gone as a riding horse too. She's a BIG time weaver though. Changing her home so sudden like this will probably put her off her feed for a while. Poor girl. That's why I worry about her. She's very much into a consistant routine.

Jenarby, I am so sorry. I don't know how you do it. I don't think I would be able to give up any horses I would have at my barn. Which btw I don't have a barn and that's a good thing. If I did I would have a zoo..

Thanks.
I, of course am a little sad to see her go....but you have to deal with that if you want to "play this game."
She was a wonderful ride, not what you would expect in a racehorse. Hopefully they will treat her well and she'll continue to run for them.
