They said it was his heart. RIP big boy, you were something else!

I've been following this story too. Some things that have been said don't quite make sense to me (as is usually the case when a major sire dies) .

He died here in Columbus. Wonder why they would ship him north when you have Rood & Riddle right there? Officially said it was a squamous cell carcinoma which had spread throughout the nasal cavity. My understanding is that these types of cancers can be treated successfully if found early enough in horses.

What a difficult time for his farm. He's being taken home to be buried on the farm.

kaidensmom: Any stories or experience with a horse with strangles that is SOB? Gelding is currently hospitalized. On Penicillin and wasn't getting better so the vet just started horse on IV doses of DMSO. The abcesses are pharyngeal. Mar 13, 2017 22:41:03 GMT -5
