Well, we were leaning towards an allownace race for Toby. It's on the 18th of this month but I think we will pass on it. The one I want to put him in is on the turf. Our turf course is HORRIBLE and I'm afraid it would hurt his leg. You can never count on the ran (like last night...terrible storm warnings and no rain!) so I don't want to enter him and then have to scratch if it didn't rain. So we are geared towards a claming race for $7500 on the 13th. Still not the races I wanted. It's going 5 1/2 furlongs and I'd rather run him 6 furlongs. There is a race for 10k but honestly it will probably come up harder than the allowance race...but it's 6 furlongs. I swear the guy who write the condition book knows what race I want to put him in and just won't write it! UGH. Anyway, Toby was extrememly strong to gallop this morning. He's been squeeling and jumping around in his stall and on the walker. So hopefully he'll continue his win streak.

Well I'm hoping for a nice safe win for Toby on the 13th and I'd really love to come and watch him. I'll go and check Yahoo Maps and see just how long a drive it would be for me. Is DeShawn riding him?

According to Yahoo it is 313 miles from my front door to Chester, WV, but I really would like to come and see Toby race and check out Mountaineer. I'll probably have to overnight and drive back the next day which would mean organizing my kids to take care of the horses but I could probably manage it. Could I meet you somewhere, Jen? What time is his race?

He ran for $7500 last time right? I'd be scared someone will claim him. Good luck though- it sounds like he'll run well!

Good Luck Jenarby, and like Katie Jo asked aren't you worried he will be claimed, and can't you wait for an allowance race instead?

It sounds like teh allowance race is too far away and it will be too difficult to keep him fit without hurting himself (something always happens to these dumb things! ) and possibly the only one that they like for his conditions is written for the turf... If its anything like our turf course, I am not sure I'd run my dog on it.

Haven't decided for sure if we will run him in that race or not just yet. It's his best option right now. I'm not afraid of losing him for 7500, I don't feel anyone will take him for that. At least I hope not. The next condidtion book starts on the 14th. It's not released yet but they do have it on the internet already. So....if I don't run him for 7500 it will be another month before he runs. That means it will be over 60 days since he's run and I will have to take him to the track for a published work. Not really a big deal...but the time is....because it's just awnry as can be and getting tougher and tougher to gallop. I know I can keep him fit...and actually the only good thing abuot waiting that long would be that I could get him ready to run a mile instead of 3/4.
Julia, I hope to get DeShawn on him. He *shouldn't* give the call to another trainer as he's had 3 wins on Toby....but you never know. We will not know for sure if we get him until 3-4 days before the race. Willl you come with a friend? I think you should come to see all the races that night! Who knows what race this one will be on the card. I am usually on the backside. I have to sit with Toby because he gets really excited before he runs. Normally pawing and I have to hold him for two hours. I don't normally head to the frontside until right before his race. You are welcome to come out though. You'd find me walking him in the paddock!

I'd probably come by myself because my husband can't get any time off right now. Look for me when you walk Toby in the paddock. I'll wear my ex-racers t-shirt.

Make sure to check the entries this weekend to make sure he's in.....or email me. Very cool! If you overnight, you should come to the farm the next day and meet all the ponees.....Sealy and Addie too!

I'll send you a PM on Monday just to be sure Toby is running cause you know he's my favorite I wouldn't need to leave until Tuesday, mid-morning, I think because the racing doesn't start until 7:00 pm - is that right? I'd love to come out to the farm the next day and meet everyone ;D
