xrays are clean...a question for you???

The vet called me earlier this morning and says the xrays are clean, nothing to worry about. He feels the hard lil bump we found on her cannon bone is a bruise knot, like a monkey bump type thing and nothing we need to worry over. While he was doing xrays I had him do her knees and ankels for me and everything looks clean. Luckily the xrays came out really good and clear. He doesnt see any old injuries(I wondered about that) and her ankles look great. I was wondering about them cause she was pinn fired as a 3 year old when she was racing and she does turn in on her ankles but all looks perfect. Tango is being a real trooper about letting me work on the scrapes and cuts and this morning I didnt even need anyone to hold her so I could change the wrap and bandages, she is such a doll when she wants to be. Ive been having my 14 year old son come with me to help but didnt even need him this morning. She isnt happy about not being able to go out but she is enjoying all the attention and extra hay and treats.

Now for my question....I am wrapping the one back leg up pretty well and the other doesnt need to be wrapped since the cuts ans scrapes are to far up on that leg. Should I just put a standing wrap on that leg to even it out since she will need the compression wrap on for a while on the other leg. Years back when we needed to wrap up on leg we always did the other in a standing wrap to even it out and I think maybe I should do this while she needs to be wrapped up so heavy on theone leg.....what do you think. The vet said I could if I wanted to but its not medicaly nescessary, my old vet always did up both legs and never just one.

Glad to hear the x-rays were negative! And good thinking to do her other legs. Nice to have something for comparison if the need ever arises in the future.

Carambi had a bone bruise on one of his front legs (looked kind of like a splint). It went down and you have to look very hard to find it now. He did it while sticking his leg in the fence while playing across the fence with the other horses.

I always put a standing wrap on the other leg. Don't know if it helps, but it makes me feel better!

I always wrap the other leg as well-but when Madeline is kept in, she stocks up so wrapping keeps that from happening.

Clean x-rays are a good thing!

When I had bough Tango the vet had seen what was supposed to be Xrays of her legs taken when she was about 5 that her owner had already, shes just 7 now so they were onl;y a year ld when we saw them. I just wanted new ones for my own piece of mind, I am glad I had them done plus he only charged me for the films themselves and thats it, he is such a sweetheart and Im so lucky to have him especialy right now since this stunt of hers could have been costing me part of our down payment on our farm...

I dont have any problems with Tango stocking up at all so I am going to go ahead and wrap the other hind leg in a standing wrap, if nothing else it will make me feel better. I hate having been outa the horse scene for so long, so many things have changed and so many new products are out there...I feel so out of it and old LOL...

lets see I gots prurple, green, blue, yellow, orange and a putrid brown/green color LOL....I tend to stick with greens on her thou, dont want her to be a fashion flop around the farm

I agree wrap the other leg for support. She's probably bearing more weight on it then the hurt one, so if it were me, I'd go ahead and wrap.

My friend's mare suffered a hideous rear cannon cut (peeled the skin back down to the tendons; icky) back at the beginning of November. She still has to wear a wrap every day (it looks miraculously good now, but not done healing). She's never wrapped the opposite leg and has not had any problems. But this is a broodmare, not a riding horse, so I don't know if it would make a difference on a horse that will go back to work like your horse.
