Introducing Grace - 16.2 hh Gray Thoroughbred gelding. (Please, no references to the Johnny Cash song about a boy named Sue ) I just researched his lineage on the Del Mar site and it turns out that he's got some great horses in there including Native Dancer. ( I knew it I knew it I knew it!) My son is in the picture with him, which was taken about 48 hours after we moved him from the rescue center. He was still pretty nervous that day...poor guy. Besides really needing a bath, he was beat up horribly by the other horses at the center so he's got marks all over his body. Still dont have his file because we all came down sick and I couldnt drive out there to get it, but the owner of the rescue place told me he was born in April 97 and raced in 2000. He was immediately bought as a showjumper after his first race, which he won a purse in. He was registered as a gray or roan, and his registered name is Da Bear Facts. Must have been bred in Il.... I'm hoping to feel better so I can run out to say hello to him today. Brrrr it just wont get warm here. We are so happy to have him join us! This is going to start quite an adventure for all of us. Welcome Welcome Welcome!

...him two nice pleasant horse buddies at your place now Christina! That will go such a LONG WAY to helping you retrain him and relax him.!!! He is a NICE looking BIG horse! I like him. His registered name is Da Bear Facts....his other owners called him 'Flash"...you call him "Grace." WHATS UP WITH HIS NAME? I think his name should be "Ditka."

C-H-R-I-S-T-I-N-A, I KNOW HIS LAST TRAINER!
I looked him up on turday.com to get his race racord since you said he was from IL. Go to the site and sign up for the "free" registration and then put his name in - shows you his whole race record (no easy way to post it here). I can tell you that they would NOT BE HAPPY to find out how he ended up - but I know they'll be thrilled to bits to know he's in a happy home now. I'm going to email Ann right this second!

OH! I love that horse!! And I love these wonderful stories ;D ;D ;D Congratulations Christina and welcome! I can't wait to hear more about him and see more pics of him and his arab buddies!!! I wouldn't worry too much about the name myself. I change them from tiome to time anyway (just ask Petunia ) and my other half Joe call them ALL "Bumpy"....dogs, cats, horses....Heck he calls half my FRIENDS that! Good luck with him. He's BEEEEEAUUUUUTIFULLLL!

Brisco - that is so great that you know who his trainer was! Any information that any one has is greatly appreciated since it gives me some insight into him. I was told that the "Mueller's" owned him last, but it was the insurance company that dropped him off. They turned him in Dec 13, and I met him soon after. He didnt catch my eye that much until someone else had taken him out to brush. I felt eyes in the back of my head so I turned around and there he was! I swear, if he had been a person he would have nodded his head at me and said "Hi there." He looks like an athlete, he moves like an athlete. Had a Veeery scary moment at the new barn when the gate was left open so his new friends decided to race out of there and across the road. I quickly got him back into the paddock, took off his halter and went to go catch the others when I saw Grace check out the fence. (he knew exactly where the other horses were, and that fence borders a culvert which is alongside the road) As he approached the fence (now I know how fast I can sprint in an emergency) I FLUNG myself, arms outstretched, between him and the fence. After the fastest Monty Roberts Horse Whispering moves you've ever seen I got the halter back on him and decided he was staying with me while some others caught the wandering Arabs. I think that even though I'm sick...that I might be okay enough to just run over there real quick and say hi to him...

Awww, he looks sweet, good to know the insurance company gave him a second chance. They could have just dumped him at an auction.

I had a ottb named Martha, he was a dapple grey too! I just called him Martha, but I think the woman who has him now calls him Mac. I liked Martha better!
So don't let any on here (S.May ) give ya any grief about HIS name ;D I think Grace is cool!!
