Our realtor just called me back and said he was in contact with a lady he knows not far from the farm we are buying who had a huge horse farm all set up about 3 years ago. The ladies horse farm idea never took off and she has a tremendous amount of horse farm items that are just sitting that she is willing to sell off cheap. I had driven by the place and remember thinking what a great horse place it looked like it had been, a few round pens, hot walker, nice pvc fencing and stuff. She told my realtor she has 15 12x12 stalls kits all made of the take apart panels with slider doors, feed doors and built in hay racks and they have the better quilty metal bars. 10 stalls are up and need to be taken down but 5 are still boxed and were never put up. She has everything from the hot walker to feed bins with everything inbetween that would be needed to start a horse farm from scratch. I am going to go and meet her this weekend and see what she has and what kinda price she is looking at. I dont know if I would be able to just out and out by everything but I could get maybe 5 stalls at first and some extras, would love to have the hot walker and some of that PVC fencing, it all looks almost new from what I saw from the road when I went past. The fencing on our farm is barbed wired right now but it is all new wire and posts so its not an immediate need to redo, I would like to be able to do a smaller paddock down by the barn in something other then wire so the PVC would work great for that and a small ring. Anyone have any ideas what I should offer her for each of the stall kits. I am trying now to find some online info on new ones so maybe that will give me an idea. The realtor did tell me that the lady ishurting pretty bad for money and has here place on the market so I could probably make a good deal with her but I dont want to take advantage of knowing she is hurting for money either, ya know what I mean right. You cant tell at all how excited I am, no not at all LOL...I am just beside myself with happiness even if the timiong health wise isnt all that great, I do have at least 1.5 months before we would be moving and I know I will be feeling much better by then. So give me some idea what I should do about making her an offer on the stall kits, should I make the offer on the ones that are already up or the kits that havent been used yet, either way its ok with me since they are nicer then what I would have been able to do new.

Oh Tina get the barb wire down at your place..... I have had accidents with it and won't let it on my farm at all! My one hand was shredded and is all scarred up and I just had my hand on the wire when a horse went through it. I have seen near amputations with horses from wire without barbs. When I was a girl, a girlfriend of mine was running around the barn and hit the wire my accident.... it took the skin from ankle to knee and wrapped it in wire....

I know I hate wire also and have seen some nasty accidents with it but for now its gonna have to do. I am going to get some electric tape put up right away on the tops of the posts and I am going to orange ribbon all the wire but thats all I can do for now. It is all brand new with new posts so its not old, broken, rusted and sagging but I also want it gone as soon asd I can afford it. We are going in this farm pretty well broke, we will be eating tuna and noodles for a while LOL. Im not to worried about Tango or the old guy with the wire, they are both pretty much fence respectful plus I will do the electric tape as soon as we are moved in and they are both scared of that since thats what at the barn now althou its not on very often they do stay far away from the fences. Im hoping to get that PVC fencing and then I can make a small pasture on a flat area thats all grass down near the barn. The area I want to pvc fence will probably support 2 horses with grass thru most of the summer and hopefuly by then I will be able to have done at least most of the wire over in electric tape. We have 4 pastures of probably 70 acres of to refence or at least break some up into smaller pastures with electric.

I love the tape...... it wears out and has to be replaced quickly. About every 3 years but for OTTB it works great because they go before thinking sometimes and barb wire is nasty. I want to look for the electro-braid.... maybe it wouldn't whip in the wind and come apart as quickly as tape.. LOL Tuna and noodle are good... if you get a low cal recipe worked out you could pass it to me and/or Brooks and Brian!

Tina I know what you mean about going into it pretty broke. Kinda makes you check your sanity level doesn't it? Especially in this :curse: economy! We're doing the same thing... nice thing is though, we're paying off most of our credit cards, my new truck, and my new 5th wheel. But will now own two homes until the other sells!!!!!! Crazy? Yep.. but hey.. us horsey folks gotta get what we want ya know.. That farm is just gorgeous... hamburger helper is cheap too!!! :hahaha:

Tina, it will all fall into place. Maybe you can work out some kind of deal on the farm equipment and supplies with the person selling them. I am so happy for you. Congrats on the new farm.

Tina I am so stoked for you! By all means check out what that woman has to offer. Don't know about what to try for on the pricing, but she may have all kinds of other things you could use.

Wow! Kinda good to hear a fluke that's on a good note! I'd have no idea about pricing...I'm a white trash farm rigger....nothing fancy yet Sue! Your story about the non-barbed wire has me incredibly upset! I ripped out so much barbed wire it was nutty (and there is still some here and there) and have been replacing it with high tensile wire ? ACK (where is the extreme fear face??) I think your story really hit me because even before reading it, whenever I go near the wire I am so so so careful ...paranoid for an unspoken reason that it will break and come reeling back at me or the horses. Ug....WHAT WAS I THINKING??? Fence suggestions with a low budget and a Crazy horse (the leaper) anyone? Good luck Tina...
