He is turning out to be such a good boy. We jumped lots of fences today! I wrapped his legs today for support. Didn't expect to be jumping last week. He just loffs it! My hubby came and watched. (good boy too!) :hahaha: My instructor asked me what his show name will be. I need to find a show name for Red.... already a Big Red in our area eventing... He is just over 16H almost 16.1 Any ideas?

Oh! Sounds like so much fun! I do love picking names for horses/places that aren't mine! They aren't any good but it's so much fun So, I need pics and more info again on his past etc. Congrats on such a great ride!

Bought him off Canter of MI in fall of 1999..... had a devil of a time retraining.... had him (and me) to a whisperer type of trainer and finally just started to ride him myself a year ago. Nan, my new eventing trainer, calls him Hot Rod.... He is like Vida's Eagle. Full of himself and fast. Honest personality. Has a lot of natural talent and balance. His name is Fighting Warrier out of Fighting Fit of CA and his mom I believe is War Monument gd of Hoist the Flag. Oh, also he believes he is Casanova and all the girls love him in the pasture (again this is Red's belief, not the girls)

Wow! I'm really interested in his/your story all the way around. I sometimes wonder if I need to get Cobie to someone else for "training" and yet we've gained so much trust in each other and I'm worried ...I know its stupid...about a trainer breaking up the wee bit we've come so far Funny that you have come so far with Red and his name is all warrior background.....hmmm...and here we are at a time of possibly impending war and yet you've found peace wiith one another. Hmmm.... Peace of War? (for your trainer) Hot Peace? with double entendre to his attitude or triple if you consider his self-assumed way witht eh mares (for his mother) Honest Monument? A Fit Warrior? See. this is why I don't do this for my OWN horses or animals...I stick to buttwiperbean or something like that

I am so bad about naming... Nan asked what I was going to call him..... I said Red.... she looked like I just grew a horn out the middle of my forehead! I need help! Lynne, I think you are right.... I won't send Red away again to a trainer.... For 5 months, Red was on the other side of town and I felt like I was loosing him. I have Red in a barn near my farm that new trainer goes to. I have to learn with my horse or it doesn't do any good.... Red trusts and loves me.... I don't want to loose that.

I guess this is a dumb question..... what kind of names do they give eventers? Are they like barn names and why don't they use their registered names?
Wasn't there a book....War and Peace? I like Red Warrior....

What a pretty boy with the white socks too! My redhead is totally plain wrap except for about 4 white hairs that on a good day I call a star.
I actually like Fighting Warrior for a show name (Must be that Old West comming out from being in Utah too long ). Why not call him Casanova since its his personality. How about Fit to be Red? Hmmmm. Maybe not. I'm not great at this either.
Oops, computer time up, off to some music.
ciao

I have noooo ideas with names. I come up with silly human names for my animals, i.e. Lily the hoss, Barney the dog, Peggy the dog and Lucy the cat. He is a lovely looking horse though. I can remember entering my pony in a gymkhana many moons ago. His name was Marty, now that just wasn't flash enough, so I entered him as something so flash, that I can't even remember it. I remember my mother having to pick herself off the floor laughing.... I couldn't understand why she found it so funny. :hahaha: :hahaha: Looking back now I can, cos he was such a ruff nut pony off a farm but I ended up making him jump 54 gallon jumps through pure persaverance sp?. I was all of 9 or 10 and I was so determined that this pony of mine was going to do it. Good luck finding a name, and it is reassurance to us newbies out here that some of you have had a challenge with your horses. I have ridden my Lily a few times now, at a walk, and can't see too far ahead past this confidence building (for both of us). So good luck to both of you. Bindi.

As for show names, when I was playing with the barrel racing, I showed Flynn under the name of No Dun Intended (a suggestion by a friend due to his odd colour). I loved the show name she gave one of the polo ponies she used to show as a hunter (and clean up too), the horse's normal name was Caleb, but was shown as Incognito. hehehe. Of course, she didn't tell us she was using a show name first show we went to see her at, so when they were anouncing the winners we were very disappointed (and couldn't believe it) when we didn't hear Caleb's name then they announced the winning horse, Incognito (we are all thinking fix, cause they were perfect) then added ridden by, our friend. Jill rode up took the blue ribbon, then had to explain to us what was going on. hehehe. I can never remember her last name, but she was one of the best riders I've ever seen. She even took one of the polo ponies to a mini event and took 8th their first time doing such a thing. She was cool. My friend Jamie told me last she heard, Jill was down in Florida.

Red Rum Red Dawn In the Red But, why not just use his racing name? I don't really understand the H/J way of renaming horses. BTW, I'm envious you're jumping. I'm showing Flyte over fences in four weeks and the ground here is too (muddy/frozen, depending on the day) to jump

Bindy.... I am like you.... short, sweet and simple.... like my handle here ...original....sue....LOL! It has taken me 3 years getting Red and Diego ready.. for green as grass stuff. These TB aren't easy, but a lot of fun! Casanova is a horse I ride with...... maybe Don Juan.... or el tigre..... or flying tiger...... and I can get a quarter sheet made of tiger material....... and purple breeches...... I think I am losing it... Ok gals...... I think I am in dire straights...... I like "In the Red" because that is how I feel with taking care of 6 horses!
