And I can barely see the screen through my tears for you. Nairu, I'm so sorry. She knew you love her and it is probably best this way. She never had a moments worry at least with you as her human. Please never hesitate to email or call me. *hugs*

My sincere condolences to you It's heartbreaking news to hear that Rita has crossed the Rainbow bridge. You were a very good mom for her and gave her the very best life possible. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

everyone for all your kind words, poems, e-cards, e-mails...please include Kmmom (Nancy) in your cyberhugs, she's the one who found Rita at the track and loved her to pieces, too. She offered me her mare to ride, and I think I will. I know I'll be crying my eyes out for a while every time I think of Rita, I also know it will get better with time. I just can't stay away from the horse world, even tho I know heartaches are part of it.

A friend of mine wanted to let you know that Rita was escorted to heaven by her mustang stallion yesterday. Apparently the stallion was to be gelded and did not come out of the anesthisia (sp) very well, herniated his intestines. So Rita and Pawnee must be having a wonderful time now... When you are ready, there will be room for another horse in your heart, you'll just have to stretch it.

Katie, what you said about room in the heart, I think you're right. If Shorty had not died, then I would not have been looking for another OTTB, or have found Porter. I know Porter needed me as much as I needed him.

So sorry to read the sad news this morning. My husband tries to understand the bond I have with my horse and this passion I have about horses in general. As much as I don't know you Niaru, I do know your passion and your bond and that's what horse people share. These wonderful creatures give so much it's hard to ever say goodby because we love having them in our lives. How good that you could be there for her. The legacy of that bond is that now she will fly on in your dreams and be a part of you forever. Hugs during your sadness and many happy dreams.

So sorry to hear this news...at least you know you did the right thing for her. She knew that you loved her very much and she is not in pain anymore. She will always have a special place in your heart, and hopefully, your memories of her will encourage you to help other OTTBs in the future.

Oh my heart is so sad.... Words cannot express the sadness I feel for you and Rita. I just want to sit and cry for you. I am so deeply sorry. My thoughts are with you... "Do not cry because it is over, smile because it happened" In other words...remember not the sadness that her passing brings but rather the joy and triumphs you had together.

I have been off this board for a while, but I used to always enjoy the stories about Rita, and I remember her well. I am so sorry to hear of her passing.

I posted on the "old" board as I've been away on vacation. I have some serious catching up to do on this board!
Anyway, I know you're hurting and missing Rita something terrible. You did right by her and I'll be praying for your heart to heal as quickly as possible.

and was so shocked to hear this sad news. I know how devastated you must have felt. Rita was such a neat horse. Your successes with her always gave me encouragement in working with Willie last year.
I know you'll find another some day who won't take her place but will fill your heart nonetheless.
