My drama queen got hit the worst with a bad case of bronchitis (almost pnuemonia) got better and then got sick again its been a LOOOONG winter.. see if you can get some videos and plop her down to watch, just to get some quiet time.. or better yet...let her play with some MAKEUP! my daughter has found that she LOVE makeup.. i let her put it on her dolls, herself.. she even talked hubby into letting her put it on HIM lolol... just keep her in EYES view... personal experience here

I can definitely sympathize with you! I couldn’t leave the house for most of Nathan’s first year. He was quarantined at home starting in September (when he was three months) through May of the next year, because he was getting RSV shots and at an elevated risk for getting very ill. We only ever went to the doctor, which averaged about one appointment per week for the first year. I couldn’t go shopping or anywhere else in public because I was his primary caretaker and didn’t want to bring home any germs. We had to wash our hands every time we touched him. It was such a great feeling last May when Mark and I loaded Nathan in the car and went OUT! We had been out of the house together maybe three times that year, so it was such a foreign feeling. AND Mark travels, so I would often spend a week at home with Nathan, only talking to real adults on the phone. Talk about cabin fever! :loon: I still get that way, even though I work now. It just seems like I drop Nathan off at the babysitter, go to work, pick him up, eat dinner, bathe him, put him to bed, then wake up the next day and do it again. When Mark is out of town (which is most of the time, during the weekdays), I get so lonely for adult company! Christi

I haven't had any sickies REAL bad this year yet, so I'm crossing figers here! It's is SOOOO hard when you're cooped up. And it's even harder when you're at work and they're home sick ( my older boys) and you can't do anything! Except bring home some chicken soup, huh? In the last round of snow, the kids had a combined five days in a row off school, and talk about CABIN FEVER! Geez, I had to kick them out the door at regular intervals to burn off some of that "fightin' spirit!" The best thing about this winter has been that it's cold enough to keep our pond frozen, and so I have a lot of hockey playing going on, and that really burns off the energy.... thank god. Christi...I didn't know Mark traveled that much! That must be a REAL pain! Hubbies with traveling jobs earn the wrath of many working moms..... unfairly yes, but it's SO HARD!

Vent away! I feel for you...we don't have any family close by either, we pretty much never get time away from the kids, BUT hubby works from home, so if worst comes to worst he can cancel his appointments and stay home with the kids (of course, I could cancel my classes too, but I HATE doing that). Good luck to you both...being home with a sick child is no walk in the park!!

Spend Queenie's nap time planning your imaginary vacation! Drink lots of coffee during the day, so you can keep up with Queenie's demands, then have a glass of wine at bedtime, so you can keep up with your sleep. Meet your husband at the door on Friday with a kiss and number where he can reach you in any emergency. Then SPLIT, baby!
