I'm going to officially start fostering Neos, like my Einstein. We have homes out here, but no dogs. The East coast has a ton of dogs, and no foster homes or forever homes. So I said I would take senior dogs or ones with heath problems/issues.
AM I NUTS?! :loon: OK, I just wanted to use that smiley, but really, poor S. he just thinks I'm insane, because I get so attached to my fosters and take on terminal dogs. But I don't regret it for a second.

I think it is absolutely wonderful that you take on the dogs that are less likely to move quickly. You give them a chance and show them lots of love. It must be hard to go through sometimes, I would be so attached. But you should feel good and proud of yourself with what you accomplish with them.

Go You!! I know what you mean. I foster for the doberman rescue here (although I'm still trying to wrok out a first right of refusal clause ) Its hard not to be attached to them, but its harder to ignore them. What I'd really like to do if I can figure it out so that I don't get EVERYTHING dumped here, is how to do a mutt rescue...just the general not wanted, no particular breed thing. How are they getting the dogs from the East to you? I'll play relay for parts in between if you need. Just let me know Good luck!

We have an all breed rescue in Colorad Springs, and a few smaller ones around. I can get info on starting one up for you if you want. I know they go to Petsmarts every Saturday with adoptable dogs!
At work, we get first right on fosters! Of coarse, all mine are terminal, so I never worried about that! Now, I'm not sure about this one, it really will be hardto give up a 9 year old Neo, when they average 7 years old! 9 is ancient.
I don't know how they're getting here, but thanks so much for the offer, I'll find out. It's a wonderful rescue group, and I feel proud to be a part of it. The cool thing is that I can do it, I have the room, the land, and the time. I would feel aweful if I didn't. Now, if I lived in a town or city, that would be another story, but I live in BFE, and I can ;D
I've ALWAYS wanted a big male Dobie. Don't know why, I've never even met one, but that was my dream as a child ;D

Crazy no!
Okay...maybe but I feel your craziness sister! :loon:
I have two fosters now....two puppy mill dogs....scared of themselves and everything else on the planet earth. Health problems, unhousebroken, fearfull, intact etc. Got the rest of my herd (9 others) all riled up but thankfully that has settled. My husband thinks I need a 12 step program and so does my boss. But I don't care...they need me like yur guys need you and that is the end of the story as far as I am concerned. ;D
Will these two ever leave my house? I am beginning to wonder...I have so enjoyed them coming out of their shell.
You are a great gal for helping..the dogs need crazy people like us to help them out!
