You've all seen pictures of HOney...our little Shetland/Hackney cross. She is a marvelous foal and weanling babysitter, but she has some special needs.. Honey tends toward chronic laminitis...right now she's not sore and her feet look good, but she CAN NOT have green grass or grain or alfalfa. She must be kept drylotted and fed sparse amounts of grass hay. If you do that, she stays healthy... One hour on green grass makes her feet sore for a week. Her other issue is that she HAS had seizures inthe past. We're not sure if it's epilepsy or some other issue.. veterinary tests have been inconclusive. I've learned that giving her vaccinations of EWT, flu rhino, etc., will bring on the seizures.. so she goes unvaccinated. She is very gentle with children, but because of the seizure incidents and the unpredictability of it, I don't recommend her as a riding pony. I sure wouldn't want a kid to go down with her... Honey is a good girl and not a trouble maker. With my pasture situation, it's getting difficult to keep her drylotted... I've tried grazing muzzles, but she is toooo clever and gets them off, no matter how you attach them. She's a silver dapple, 10H tall, about 12 years old. chris... email me... paus@prodigy.net

Chris - where are you located? I will put it up on the rescue board I go to. Maybe someone has a little plot of land for this lil Honey.

We are in Kansas. Thanks. Must go to someone who understands the importance of drylotting a chronic laminitis case!
