Can't figure out how to vote but I like the old board better. I like the intimacy and the flow of the old board better as it was like you are actually talking to friends. This board would appeal to me if it we were more a factual/scientific type group but we're not. For me it's time consuming to find posts new posts and scroll to the ends of threads. I know there is the 'new' icon that appears and the 'most recent 10 posts' button, but as a person that clicks on many times a day for very short periods when I have time, there are too many buttons and waiting with this board for loggin in, subjects to come up, etc. This board reminds me of a nice, small, people orientated company that suddenly goes public and loses the intimacy! Or of inter-office memos in a large corporation! Sorry, just my opinion.

I did already vote....the fence-sitter ticket! LOL. Because I think most people are enjoying this new board and I CAN learn new skills, or fade away trying!
But I agree with Vida's observations about this format. I really liked the old screen because I could scan so easily and quickly to see how topics were developing. Sometimes the subject lines WERE the messages. Somehow that made it feel very friendly. I'm a lot less likely to keep up with evolving discussions in this format because you have to reopen threads so many times.
And I am a fuddy duddy. I don't like things flashing on the screen. I find it really distracting. MAybe there's a way to freeze the rolling eyeballs and such. I'd like that!

I voted for the new board but i totally agree with everyone who has said they like the imtimacy of the old board. A few years ago, the USDF switched to a board similar to this and everyone had the same sentiments.
However, you do get used to this type of format although it is kind of like moving from a cozy bungalow to a macmansion! But it seems as though the size of the larger family has necessitated this move.
On the old board, I found trying to find old posts that I wanted to follow difficult after a weekend when the board had moved at the speed of light!
Is there anyway this board can be set up so we can download pictures directly from our hard-drive? It is sooo easy that way!!!

I like the flow of the old board. It's like the difference between digital and face clocks! You know, with the digital you're in the here and now and there' s a sense of hurry. With face clocks, you can see where time has been and where it's going... it's more relaxed....even though the old board moved faster, the way the threads linked, you could see where a thought was going and it was more inviting to jump in and add your .02 worth! OTOH, I love not having the pop ups.... chris

I voted for the new board, but after reading some of the posts I am also torn. It is a little harder to follow posts on this board because they jump around. It was easier to jump into a post on the other board. It was also easier to read the posts on the other board. This one is a little bit "all over the place" with the posts. If you miss a day or two here, some of the posts that are not so popular get pushed back a page and you might miss it. I like all of the graphics and extras on this board. Can we have the best of both boards? Either way I'll stay on. I hope this imput helps.

I too am torn between the two boards the HR is not that hard too follow. I does move fast but it's easy to access. This board is a little hard, and I am not use to all the bells and whisles. I will go along with what ever you all chose. If we keep this board though I would like to have a picture of Piglet with my name please. I love Piglet. He is soooooo brave.

If any of you get real serious about thinking you want to have more than 2-3 categories, please go check out >www.gaitedhorse.net<. That used to be one of my favorite places to hang out. They changed their board format a few months ago and made a lot of different categories. Since I live way out in the sticks and only have 28K phone lines, I finally quit going to their board. Although I am sure that they probably could do things to speed up the loading process, they haven't. It takes those without high speed connections a long time to check out multiple categories. Go try out their board and see what it would be like. I believe that what Christy and Keely have done here seems to be a pretty good compromise. I too loved the flow of the old board, until it became so successful. When the board moved at the speed of light, things were over before those on the west coast even arrived on the scene. I missed far more posts than I ever seemed to catch. I like the way that you can see ALL of the posts on a thread just by opening up the thread. Now you don't have to click on seperate responses to be able to read them. Maybe it is because I have a slower connection speed, but this is a much faster for me to read the whole thread and see how it is developing. I also really like being able to modify a post. How many times have we posted, then realized that we have made a serious grammer or spelling error and it is out there for the whole world to see. I know that I am not comfortable embarrasing my English teacher.
I have some good friends here and it sure is nice to feel like more of a contributor once again. I hope that everyone is going to be able to stay. I would hate to lose good friends over a format change. Linda

Had to admit I had a little bit of getting used to this new board being new myself and all...was just starting to get used to the old one and then this one came along...Truthfully I'm really liking this one but also liked the old one too...I think we all have to get used to new things....Change always seems to trip us up now and again....but once you get into the flow you can bring the friendliness and whatever you brought into the old one right into this one ....Just takes some time I think....Thanks to the moderators....you have done such a great job and continue to do so...I like it... ;D and appreciate all the time an effort you do put into this board to please everyone....that's a tall order to fill but you seem to be doing it ;D :coffee:
