You guys get to decide! Should we stay here, or go back to the old single-page board?
Tell us what you think! Thanks!

We really need *EVERYONE'S* input here - the old board seems to be functioning again and we'll go whereever the majority wants to - so long as everyone can access. We want NO ONE left out!!
We have 65+ members - we want to see that many votes!!!
And Christi or myself are always available if there are any issues for anyone either with this board or with the old board - just click on either of our names to get to our email addies.
Thanks everyone - love ya all and want to stay together with everyone as happy as we can make you!

OK, so I voted new board, but (and maybe I'm being totally anal here, it's been known to happen) I would like to see more sections than just the 2. Everything seems so lumped together. Maybe a NHR section like we have, then break down the Horse Related section a bit---say, Rescue News-Health/Feeding/Tack Fit-maybe even a section to list things we have for sale, or would like to give away-Training. I just found that in the Horse section, I've opened topics thinking they were about one thing by the title, but then they were about something else. With different sections, if someone put "Having trouble with Bob" in the Training section, we would know that it had to do with that and not a Health-related problem. Does that make sense? Do I need to just shut up?

Excellent ideas, Johnnie! If we do vote to stay with the new board, we do plan to add features, and I agree that we could stand to have more categories. We'll have to explore this option further once the voting is through (assuming the vote is for the new board).
Thanks!

Love the new board. It has so many fun things to play with, plus I don't have to be me (for now!!!) ;D

Does that make sense? Do I need to just shut up? LOL! No, you don't need to shut up. BUT, IMO, we don't have enough horse related posts to justify more than one horse related forum - like on the old board, everything was just all mixed together, including NHR & HR. Look at the difference in the amount of HR posts to the NHR posts - 2x as many NHR. Plus this way, we can pull posts from the second page and when we post on them they come back to the front page, so late posters can also have the chance to have their posts replied to. I think the way it is now, if we separated the HR into HR categories, each would only get one or two posts a day. We're not averaging a huge number of HR posts right now as it is. BUT, JMO on this.

Uh Oh...Does this mean we need to have more NHR categories? :hahaha:
Let's see, we could have a baby pics section, a Weekend Plans section, a Gripe section (we'd have to have subcategories...Spouse gripes, Weather gripes...)
:smirk:

Just a thought - instead of extra sections, could we keep the other board (or a version of it on here) for the fast-moving stuff? I just loved the way you could dip in and tag onto threads within threads. (I think SMay said something similar?) The speed was its strength.
I love all the smileys and pretty text here (even though I haven't actually sussed it out yet) - but I thought the format of the other board kept the snappy conversation going.
But then I also liked the mix of HR and NHR - I think maybe that's what some people DON'T like?

Bara, the separation of HR & NHR was in an attempt to slow things down a bit - so that not so much was on one board. The snappy conversation is great, and a good deal of fun for many people, but it pushes the HR posts (and other NHR as well!) off the old board very quickly. Because the other board does move so fast, a lot of posts were getting missed or skipped over, and while we don't want to limit conversation for anyone or make any strict rules, we DO want to have a place where people can come and get advice about their exracers, and sometimes people can't get back to the board the same day, or even just early enough in the evening. If you couldn't get there, then the posts were lost on the back pages and would get little, if any response. I just want to be sure that everyone understands the reason we wanted to try this - we want everyone to have a good time, and everyone to be able to participate, have fun, chat AND help each other out with their exracers or other horse related queries. Check out the post I made about being able to locate new posts a little easier and see if that helps you get around any better. There is also a box that you can check when you post that says "Check this if you wish to be notifed of replies to this topic". It's a great way not to 'lose' your way until you've adjusted to the format. You can also use the 'quote' feature to respond to particular text within a topic. It's a different "feel", but I've seen it work out well in other places once people get the hang of it. Just my $0.27.

While the new board has its plusses, I think the appeal of the other board is the spontaneity of posting and ease of use - less cumbersome to navigate. I also tend to duck in and out, especially if people pop around the corner of my cubicle. It would be nice if we could keep the old board for us old folks.

I'm really torn. I voted for the new board, but probably shouldn't have. I miss the flow of the old board and I really didn't think posts got "lost" if you don't want to read it/see pictures on a post, then skip it, it's easy enough to do. Yes it went fast compared to other boards, but that's only 1 part of what made it so special.
It seems more impersonal here and more like the family we are on the old board.
BUT...I love the smilies here, the cool fonts and colors. I love the organization of this, the new, board. So I don't know, I probably shouldn't have voted, I'll go with what ever the majority wants.
Edited to say, I do like that you can see on the main page who's online and how many guests we have. That's kinda neat. Also, on the messages themselves, it says who's on or off. I like that.

I really hope everyone can stay together! I voted for the new board too, but it's a close call for me, I loved the old one, where you'd get on and see everything right away rather than having to click on categories. Bit I'll go with whatever.

Maybe we could have this type of board for the HR ~ and keep the old board for our NHR since it is easier to respond to specific people. I too love all the cool features of this board but miss the spontaniety of the old board ~ oh! I'm so torn

To address the suggestion of two separate boards...It would not work in the long run. As many people have already said, they can't check two separate boards due to time constraints.
I'm happy to move (or keep) the board wherever the majority decides, but it does need to be in one place.
This board has GREAT features, but all those features do require a bit of a learning curve. Once we all get used to the format, the new navigation will become more second nature to us (assuming we vote in this board, which looks likely).
And I'm so glad that most of us have that adventurous spirit that encourages us to try new things, and constantly improve. I think that's what makes us love Ex-racers! So it is our true nature that brings us here today, and I know we will ride out all the little bucks and get this new board working as smooth as an old school horse.
If anyone has any concerns, please don't hesitate to email me at markandchristi@attbi.com. I'm happy to help!

I like both boards....but I also like the flow of the other board better. The speed of it was nice too. But I love all the fun things you can do on the new board.
