;D Something is not right , this is thee most sensible horse I have ever met. 1st he walked on the trailer like a dream, stood there while Beth fidgeted with the trailer tie for ever, He traveled so Quietly and when we stopped for 10 minutes he just looked outside and starred at the country side , didn't scream or Kick or nothing. , He took his time stepping off the trailer and when he sliped a bit on an Icepatch ( Ice and snow every where ) he just shortened his step and moved over to where it was more snowey as if he knew the footing would be better , then the slider door to the barn wouldn't open ( Keely can you relate) , We had to go through the people door, He could have cared less. We put him in the first stall with the Dutch door and window to the outside and he seemed a bit confused as to where his hay was. It was in two places, In the hay rack and some more shook out under his feed tub, Well he was used to his hay and water outside so we hung another bucket outside his stall and and more hay in a bag outside his stall door . Of course after I got done with all that he relized the Hay in the stall was also his ;D. An way he is safe and warm and seems very content, He will be going out in a seperate paddock for a few days to get use too everything but it will over look the geldings winter paddock so he can make friends. I will keep you all posted on his progrees and you can help think up show names . So far I have a list of fifty names , What do you think of " All Four One" . cause of hi 4 white socks . I will post pics as soon as I have them. GD

Well first we had a very tight schedule , We were supposed to come down last week but as you all know we were snowed in . So Beth got a day off and we had to leave after 8:30 AM on Monday and had to be home by 4:30PM Tuesday night. Well that left 10 minutes to look at Otto on Monday afternoon at 4:00Pm Ill time , The Stolzums have a farm so they too were on a tight schedule. We would have liked to have looked at more horses but we had to be on the rode by 7:30 AM tuesday. I watched Otto trot up the isle took a quick look at his legs and feet assesed his personality and said I'd take him, No I did not have a Vet check, Have to trust my instincts on this one. Keely meet us Tuesday AM to send us off and Take pictures, Which she forgot to take. LOL , Keely is a very busy Girl who NEEDS HELP in ILLinios , Canter is not a 1 person job but she is doing it herself down there, and she is doing an amazing Job! So if there is anyone in the Chicago area who wants to volunteer some time , and have some fun, get in touch with her! She could use some help down by Fairmount too. Taking pictures, updating listings, writing and sending press releases, fund raisers, escorts ( NO, not that Kind) Anyway , I was looking for a Hunter prospect and Otto has a quiet personality, and is a decent mover. He moves freely out of his shoulder and points his toes, after that it's all a guess as to what will happen, Becaue his price is reasonable and his temperment good, even if he doesn't work out for a hunter I can redirect his training and still find a new career for him in several areas. On another note The same trainer has a gorgeous Gray called Snuggles, while he wasn't what I was looking for I have no doubts that he'd be a great Western pleasure candidate or edurance/ competitive trail horse or Open Show type candidate. Who ever gets him will need to stock up on mints, he cleaned out my pockets, Oh yeah he would probably clean up in a conformaton class! And if there is a photographer out there I would suggest sending a portfolio to all the major catolog houses because I think he could make a living as a model! GD

Taking pictures, updating listings, writing and sending press releases, fund raisers, escorts ( NO, not that Kind) WHOA!!!! Thanks for the plug GD ;D but I've got my hands full right now getting volunteers trained - most of them just aren't "active" yet. I can barely keep up with the list of volunteers I have right now! We will ALWAYS need people to help, and if you haven't contacted me in the past about wanting to help, please feel free to do so, but please know that until I get some of those on the volunteer list that I already have going on their own, I don't have much time to get anyone else started. Once this first set is in place, it will free up a lot more of my time to get more people going. It definitely takes a lot of folks to get these kinds of things done, but I want to make sure everything is done thoroughly and that the people I have now wanting to help are able to ask and learn all that they need to to feel comfortable and be able to have the time to devote to them as we are getting them started. Anyone that would be interested in volunteering in the Chicago area (which is 4-5 hours from where I am at Fairmount) would need to contact our Executive Director, Denise Fillo at canter_illinois@hotmail.com and see what she might have available for folks to help with up in that area. GD got a real catch with Otto -he's just lovely all around, and she's right about the grey too - his name is "Snugglin' Man" and he's listed on the website with some not-so-great photos - but we tried so hard to get good ones (literally took about 20 pics of that horse - he's so DARK grey it's hard to get a flattering shot of him). It was definitely a rushed visit, but always great to meet another person from Exracers.com! -Keely M. from CANTER IL at Fairmount
