My trainer started Red and I jumping.... Red loves it! And so do I! It was 4 degrees yesterday and I wasn't cold. Just having fun! We just kept going over fences..... Red would seem to be saying "No big deal, what's next mom?" Wahoo! Maybe we will be able to show this summer.. last 2 Saturdays have been great.. :horsie:

SO Red just cantered around taking fences all over the place huh? WOW, I bet he DID love it. Some horses just totally enjoy doing 'new stuff" and I bet he's one! He probably thought - "this is cool, I get to run all over and play these fun games..." So he never even ducked out of ONE fence? That is really neat. Last summer I tried jumping Teddy over a few low fences set up for our pony. He "liked" it, but was the clumsiest thing...tripped and knocked down the rails a hundred times....

He knocked down the first rail because he didn't expect it. But went for everyone afterwards like a champ! Didn't get excited cantering. He usually gets wound up when we canter, but he was just patient while I did the pattern/course and cantered over and hopped the rails like it was nothing. When we were finished, we walked on a loose rein for 15 minutes... he wasn't wound up like he usually is! He loved the challenge. I think he gets bored easily and he needed this.

Very cool. Zen's the same way, bored doing regular flat work, but give him something to go over and such, now it's fun. Gotta get working on those jumps again.

Yea for you ;D ;D I love the feeling of jumping over fences. I especially like jumping over a few in a row without knowcking any down! AND if I can pick a pattern ahead of time and jump in the right order. WEEEEE! Now I just need to get a horse to do it Congrats!

:hahaha: :hahaha: LYNNE!! Great workout for you!!
Sue, how exciting!! Rita loved jumping. The first time I jumped her she obediently plowed through all the X-rails, THEN she realized she had to actually JUMP OVER them, and that was it, she never went back to touching those rails!! I used to jump a X-rail to get the canter, then she'd be all nice and mellow. But if I asked for canter on the flat she'd get all excited... WHAT FUN that Red is like that, too!!!

I'm impressed-everybody else has horses that are actually IN CONTROL when they jump. I love jumping but I just don't really know how to do it right and Madeline gets mad at me and does her own thing at her own speed(she doesn't even like to be half-halted when jumping). She never refuses or runs out though (literally, I could point her at anything and she would jump it) and she loves it so much I have to trust her every once in a while with a jump or two.

Congrats Sue! I know the feeling when you finally get back to jumping.. its very cool...
Lee: Molly is alot like that, love to jump, but gets upset if i try to hold her back, she wants to do her jumper thing, fly around the jumps at top speed, im only able to do one jump at a time right now because she gets so revved up between them. She is a very point and shoot jumper, i dont look for spots anymore because im usually wrong and molly is like 'will you just sit up there and let me do my job *I* know what im doing' lol so thats what i do now. I trust her whole heartedly to get me over to the other side without incident.
