My new and wonderful trainer introduced me to KK aurigan bits. I always thought that they were a waste of money, or at least I couldn't contemplate spending almost $100 on a bit. But he lent me his and I have tried it on all three of my horses and they all loff it. The improvement in the 2 TBs was amazing! I am a convert! Anyone should try and beg, borrow, or steal one and try it. I am definately gonna get my own. I didn't know but apparantly the two different metals work with each other to create some sort of electrical charge that relaxes the horse. Something like that. Oh and I should point out that being two different metals makes it illegal for dressage. My trainer says that he has seen top riders school Piaffe and passage etc. in the KK and switch only to a double bridle for competing. Oh and he got me to try a figure eight noseband to keep Jasper from doing his ugly faces. He prefers them to flash nosebands, and it does seem to work better.

There is a company that makes KK knock offs. Give me a little bit to look up the name again and I will post it. The bits are much cheaper ($50 range), and work the same. There was a big post on COTH months back about them, and everyone that used them liked them as much. It is not Aurigan per say since I think that is a copyrighted name used by H Sprenger, but it is the same blend of metals. I bought one that was too big and gave it to my trainer. The horse using it now LOFFS it.
