ahem...Radarslove... Glad to see you didn't disappear form the face of the earth! Yes, I lost little Rita And everytime I think of her I see her hopping on 3 legs toward me as if to say 'help'... I hope some day this image will just erase itself... Anyway, looking for another exracer helps a lot. BUT I can't help but comparing them to Rita, and it's always in Rita's favor...if you look at my post 'decisions, decision, pics' you'll see pics of some of them. So, Radar is doing fine, uh? Welcome back!!

..told me about the image that won't go away....That is excrutiatingly sad... Poor poor Rita. I wish she hadn't had any pain before she died. At least when my old TB Swaps died, he died instantly with no pain. Gosh, that is the way to go if you have to go, isn't it? For man OR beast.... ( Swaps died of a ruptured aorta in '99) Gosh, that is so sad about your mental image that won't go away.
OH, and by the way HI MINIVICKY!!!!! You will fit in well with this board, as you are famous for writing LONG posts all about your horses! And even I could figure out who "RadarsLove" is... cause I know RADAR! That's what Eowyn did here...changed herself to Zenrider...but that's OK, cause we still know who she is! Adcooper and I, SMay are the same. and so is Niaru.

Oh Niaru, I am so sorry about Rita, my hugs go out to you, I guess thats what happens when you loose your friends for so long you fall out of the loop. I know you will find someone to take her place, although no horse will ever replace her in your heart. And you too were getting along so well the last I heard................
And Hello again to everybody else, Didn't know a person could be so happy and sad at the same time. Ewyon, I will check out the pictures after this but only grugingly cause I just can't take pictures! LOL Hey quick question for you quys, Seeing as how Radar is my first t/bred, you would all know better then me, Radar turns 4 this year and he is still growing! Just recently went through another growth spurt. He stands about 15' 3 hands right now. Haven't taken a messurement lately, but the last time I did he was 15'2 and he has definatly gotten taller. I did have a blanket on him this winter that used to fit my 16 hand quarter horse mare, and it fit him fine. I had heard that they can continue to grow into thier 5th year, is this right, and if so I am probably in trouble as then I would bet he will really start filling out, he is still (ummm whats the word I am looking for) Not bulky. He is by no means skinny, but light framed? Maybe. I bought the saddle last spring and had 2 blankets under it cause I bought it a little wide so that he could grow into it. Last time I saddled him it was one pad under the saddle and that was before the last growth spurt! Here's hopeing that he gets taller and not wider right? (oops so much for the quick question! ;D )

Ummmmm I must have missed it, just where did I say that was short for me? I am starting to rethink my love of horses, used to think, the taller the better, but now that I am a mother of a teenager gulp and I wake up with stiff knees everymorning, I am thinking that Tango at 14'2 hands is looking much better! LOL This summer come heck or high water I am going to get some good, no great pictures of Radar and the gang, then I will zip them off to you and you can post them for me!

I'll never forget that BLUR FESTIVAL you called pictures of Radar! HAHAHA! Well, you can't win them all, right? And then Eowyn came up there to take some pics of you...now - that one of your hugging Radar is still a good one - why don't you post that one. Oh, and YES, a TB and actually any horse can continue to grow well into their fifth year. I read somewhere that a horse's vertabrae aren't even totally finished until age six, and it doesn't matter what breed of horse either - they are all still growing till then. They always say that thing about their "knees have closed" and talk about that happening when they are like three...but the backbone is the last place to finish fusing and it doesn't happen until age SIX! I couldn 't actually believe that... but it's another reason why hard training or jumping or eventing and stuff is better left until they are a tad older - like European dressage horses that they don't even thing about starting until age five... like Lippizaners.. did I spell that right?

Ah yes the BLUR festival ;D good one Smay!
I'd love to see pics of Radar now. He must have changed a lot.
I've always been under the impression (probably hammered in me along with my 'horsemanship instruction' over the years) that 'warmbloods' such as the French saddle horses mature much later than other breeds (like Tbs) so we learned that we really shouldn't be doing anything strenuous with our horses until they're 4 or 5. If I remember well the jumping classes for young horses in France were for horses up to 6 years old. A 6 year old is still considered very green and young. And usually riding a 4 yo meant riding a very green, playful horse, which meant falling off a lot and having to offer drinks a lot ;D

The leg does look better this morning. Swelling is going down, but not gone. One possibility the vet mentioned was a torn plantar ligament. But he just said it "might" be that kind of injury. The swelling's going down, she walks confidently and normally, and I hope these are signs that this will heal easily. The curb area still looks big, and he said that might be like that for a while. She's been awfully patient about staying in the barn. When she starts tearing the walls down, I'll know she feels a LOT better.

Now Ad, becareful what you wish for, Radar got bored standing in the barn over the winter when they were stuck inside for 24 hours cause the wind chills were like 50 below zero, when I got out in the morning, he had ripped the inner boards off of one wall, not a good feeling to walk into the stall in the morning and see the wood laying there with the nails up! And he must have really pulled cause I put them up with ring shanked nails! Not the easiest thing to pull out! I am glad that she is doing better, but of course she is with the good care you give her!
