all weather is horse related.
It is POURING rain, but the second it hits a surface it freezes! The trees are coated and hannging icicles. I cant walk outside, have to crawl. The fences are sagging in the middle of each section. The horses are covered with ice. I hate it! I hate it! I hate it!
I'm starting dinner now b/c I'm afraid we'll lose power soon and not be able to cook ....Its ugly. Really ugly.

That's the worst. I'd rather have snow. Be careful out there!!!

We've got the same storm here, but it's cold enough to be snowing instead of raining. I hope you keep your power. That is the biggest hassle when nothing in your house WORKS!

Yeah...but you know...I can live with that. Its worrying about the critters and being able to make it OFF THE PORCH to get to them that really drives me bonkers! Now how in the HAY am I going to hydrotherapy that wound in this???
Hope Cypress improves tremendously overnight.
You know...I don't think I've ever seen a picture of Cypress! Show me one! NOW!!!

Yesterday - rain Early today - all the standing water went to slush & freezing rain now - ice over water all over the ground, lightly snowing :bang: Sorry to hear your horses are covered in ice - my have been inside mostly - they went out today for a bit while Jason and I cleaned stalls. Now they are (happily) inside.

Ugh, we had a bad ice storm last winter. It was awful and a year later, we're still cleaning up the damage! We were without power for 3 days.

That's NOT an uplifting message It is still coming down....the news just NOW (two hours after it started for us ) said "There may be a slight layer of ice developing within the last fifteen minutes" DOH! I have few material desires. It is one of those days though where I desperately want a TEN stall barn! Of course the nieghbors aren't freaking out about theirs and they don't even have a run in.....I'm a worrier. It'd be so much easier to call it a night if I knew everyone was perfectly tucked in...perfectly dry....perfectly not bickering with each other in the dry spaces....

Lynne, I emailed you a b & w pic of Cypress because I'm not skilled enough to post it here. Learning how to email photos was my technological breakthrough of the year. Maybe in 2004 I'll take the next step! Thanks for asking!

I don't envy you all that rain. You be careful slithering to the barn - we had an inch of rain on top of the white :curse: a month ago, and it is still slick where I havent dug down with the Great Green Snow Shovel. It always helps make you 'feel' better when the weather liars state the obvious several hours into a storm - :loon: :loon: :loon: !!!!!!!

Lynne, As soon as it stops, use the ashes from your woodstove to spread for the horses to walk on. The ashes are very abrasive. What you are getting is the absolute worst to deal with. I suggest clay kitty litter for things close to the house. Kitty litter is much easier to clean up than ashes. My sympathies. Linda
