Hi all,
Sorry for the interruption, but it’s important that everyone reads this post. This will be quick!
I was reading the “Training to Concentrate” thread, and I’m concerned with some misconceptions that we need one post to be related to training. Actually, that’s what the whole general “horse related” forum is for. If we get to the point where specific training posts are lost in the other horse-related posts, then we can start a separate training section. However, we are not at that point yet…And probably will never be if everyone continues to put all training related posts under just one thread.
My concern is this: You guys have expressed some wonderful questions and advice in the “Training to Concentrate” thread, but they are all getting lost and jumbled together. It’s important to 1) change the subject of your new post or reply to reflect the subject matter of your post (if you are posting about clicker training, change the subject to Clicker Training); and 2) Don’t hesitate to open up a new thread about specific topics. Just say, “I think you would benefit from Clicker Training. I’m going to open up a new thread on that topic”.
I have missed quite a few updates on Charm’s progress because they were put into this one thread. I hate to miss those! Niaru, couldn’t you do a new thread for Charm’s progress reports? And here are some of the other topics that got lost inside that thread, and really could stand to be opened in a new thread: Retraining the New Exracer, Saddle fit, Clicker Training, Temper Tantrums, Teaching Ground Manners, Groundwork, Standing Still, Bloodlines, and Aggression.
What do you guys think? And please don’t take this the wrong way…It’s totally okay for subjects to make twists and turns and meander here and there. What I’m concerned with is that people are starting new posts and topics under this one thread, and they are not related to the original topic, nor are they replies to the main subject. I just want to make it easier for everyone to read the posts and find great information.
I hope all that makes sense! Thanks so much, and congratulations if you made it down this far! LOL! If you have any questions, or disagree, feel free to post here or to email me at markandchristi@attbi.com or IM me.
I will leave this post at the top of the Main forum for a few days for everyone to see, then I will move it to the Technical Support forum. Also, I am going to "unsticky" the Training to Concentrate thread because I think that caused some misunderstandings. The post will not disappear, but it will give other training topics the chance to be seen.
Thanks bunches!!!
Christi
