Good old Mr Chev Silverado died. Gears piled up in the transfer case and broke said case and it cannot be repaired. On the plus side, I have a line on a newer truck, same model and a few years newer for cheap much cheaper than the fix. Ran the specs past my buddy who is a service manager and he said to grab it because I can get another several years out of it. I could buy something newer but, jeez, they are almost ALL 4 door trucks with that 4.5' box or 3500s or both. .

Awww, sorry to hear of the loss of your truck, my truck's cousin.
I prefer an extended cab longbed to a 4 door shortbed myself, but that's the way of the future it seems. The extra inches the 4 door adds to a long bed adds just makes parking and maneuvering that much more difficult in tighter spaces. I know a lot of people are OK with a shortbed, but I've really gotten to like having a longbed. All of the GM 2014's are either standard cab or crew cab. I could have understood more getting rid of the standard cab myself. Not to mention they are priced way too high for me. I dread the day I have to find another truck. Here's hoping my old Monster keeps going and going.
If you found a good deal on one, snatch it up quick and good luck with it.

OK. You two are speaking Martian...
You're talking trucks? (Lorries?) (Pick-ups?) Sorry for your loss, Tee, and good luck with the new(er)one.

I pick it up this morning - 98 Sierra LE 4X4 - definitely NOT music, heat and four black feet. Has power everything although the mirror electric controls are toast but that is minor and rather common and they can be worked manually. The only thing I don't like is the new improved tilt control as it is inset flush in the steering column but I will get used to it
