Barns are full across town...board went up at my barn. Full care will now be $510 plus I provide my own grain. I work off $100 per month but i can't sustain this...rough board is affordable and, due to the increase in board, BO is looking for decent hay so I'd be happy for D to go back outside but she said its full and not sure if she can fit D outside again...
Why does it have to be so hard?? I'm starting to feel so worn out again. Our first event is on May 12, which i'm commited to. After that, idk what to do! Fingers crossed she finds space for us outside, or that a spot opens up at another barn - we just won't compete or get lessons anymore. Not thatI'm getting lessons now really, since board eats up my funds for that, but the horses outside on the round bales are LITERALLY skeletal, if not very, very thin...but that's a whole 'nother topic of ranting and raving.
Ugghhhhh. I need to MOVE. I want to MOVE! Starting to look at job options out of state, but it may take several months if not longer since I want to stay with the company I'm with.
So frustrating :/

That's a lot more then my house payment, I am so sorry. Hope you can work it out. If you were closer you could board here, for free

aww thanks Brooks! Board is WAY more than I pay for rent! I may have to re-evaluate after the May event, although hopefully a spot will open up outside and the barn gets decent round bales :/

Good luck. Maybe you'll find a way to keep him outside with a shelter?
At the big event barn it seems there are more and more horses living outside year round. Shelters sprout up, paddocks are built (it's a BIG place). They only bring them in when it's really, REALLY cold or if there is a blizzard. Then there are horses everywhere, in the indoor and in all nooks and corners of the huge barn.

Ugh, you'd love the place I board, but the commute would kinda make that impractical. That said, I'm sure board is going up again soon. Sigh.

Whenever your board is higher than your rent or house payment, that's ridiculous!

I wish my house payment was less then her board rate.

BO said she's getting new hay, and will start throwing bales out for the outside horses, I'm going to give it another month to see how the horses do (if they gain weight, etc.) before deciding to move D outside or not. Cost of living in the midwest is really affordable...except when it comes to horses
