Such a beautiful spring day, and good friends have been urging me to ride their seldom-used gelding, Montoya. He's a big guy, supposed to be Appy, but he's brown all over. It's the first time I've been on a horse for months, so I know I'll be sore tomorrow. But it was nice. He's had some good training in his past, and though he feels much different than my TB mare, he was light and friendly. He can be a bit intimidating in the field, but once you're on board, he's a nice, uncomplicated fellow. It was good for me. Then I came home and helped Bruce split wood. We had two big trees taken down recently, and we're borrowing a splitter to help with the job. I will be so sore tomorrow! There's so much more to do....

It must have felt good to be riding again, no? And hopefully you can ride him regularly? I rode today, too, such a nice day. Miss Charm seemed to be a bit gimpy at the beginning of our ride but she worked out of it and was fine at the end. And I should be working in the yard too...much to do after the long winter!

Didn't ride, was going to clear more of the trails, but found out after I got there that my pole pruner had lost a bolt and was none functional. Guess I should have brought a saddle. So gave the ponies treats and went to the hardware store instead. Yeah, my gardens need work too, but well.... More worried that some people aren't getting how dry things are around here right now. Was a huge brush fire by one of the barns on my route Thursday. The fire department kept it from reaching the barn, but it burned a couple of acres. I don't know what started the fire, but have to say, if you smoke, don't throw the damn butts just anywhere. Sorry pet peeve of mine. Mostly as many people who smoke often seem oblivious that cigarettes are still burning when they throw them away. modified as there are people that smoke that are aware that their cigarettes are burning. Don't want to imply I believe all smokers are oblivious of that fact.

Dry enough for a fire in March!?That's ominous. We need a rainy season, not another drought like last year.

Agree Zen our back lot should be mud with the melt of the snow and isn't really at all. Definitely a dry spring hopefully some April showers come along. Glad you got to enjoy a ride ad hopefully there are more to come!! We rode Saturday I rode the old arab who showed he doesn't feel that old (well he might have felt old on sunday LOL).

This was so good to read Ann.
We went from ice to slop, back to ice, then snow and now it is dry.
