My old mare, Daisy, crossed the bridge yesterday...we think she was around 23-24.... She had been living with a friend of mine for the past year or so, helping to teach my friend's child to ride. When she didn't come up for hay yesterday...my friend went looking...and found her by the creek. It appears to have happened quickly, and hopefully painlessly... She was a good horse...stubborn as a mare can be, but loving...always had a hopeful nicker when she saw me in the pasture. I rode her one last time not long before my friend took her. It was obvious she needed to retire...so she went to my friend's house...and there she stayed. I will miss her.

Thanks everyone. I am just heartbroken. Many regrets, including not getting a chance to see her recently. When I went out to feed the horses this morning, I just cried & cried...Diamond, my boy that I can always rely on, stuck his nose to my cheek & just breathed on me. It's like he knew...
