I'm doing it. entries open March 26. Beginner Novice.
I want to throw up already.
My goal is to have fun and not get eliminated, lol. But still, I am sooooo nervous already. Just thinking about it makes me want to puke! But i'm also excited.
I'm 26! I took my horse fox hunting, this should not be a big deal, right? eeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkk!

That sounds like SO MUCH FUN!!! I'm like you about competing lol but gotta say what I LOVE about eventing is it's all about just you and your horse. One of the ways I cope with my nervousness is making other people laugh...helps diffuse me and them a little bit I think Deep breaths and best of luck!!! And pictures!!!

you WILL do great! Is there anyone you know who's pretty experienced going? If you go with a buddy, especially for your first one, it's SO much less nervewracking! You know, someone to remind you to take a BIG canter in the warm up before dressage; someone to remind you to put on rein stops before you head out on XC with your running martingale; someone to yell "start your watch" when you head out of the start box; and someone to hold your fly spray and water bottle while you go around the stadium course! That stuff helps SO MUCH!

I wish you were in Area 8 so I could take TWO Carolines to the events and yell "start your watch" !!! hahaha

I'm going with the person who got me into this whole mess anyway lol. She has a 19yr old OTTB who is a XC MACHINE, we call him D's mentor lol. My bf might go, I know it won't be any fun for him but I'd like him to be waiting for me with cold beer in hand after I survive everything lol. And take pics, of course. Depends on his work schedule.
We haven't jumped a full course at 2'7" yet, so we have 2 months to get there. We have a dressage lesson tonight and will start taking one a week. A XC clinic at a different course (but where we might go to another event in August) next weekend, we're schooling the course in April, hitting up a schooling jumper show. The only thing we won't get a chance to do is a schooling dressage show, but I'm just going to have to give it our best shot. For some reason the little while dressage ring just makes eeeeeverything different lol. eeek!
Oh, and I need boots! My half chaps aren't going to cut it and my old field boots are kaput!

Actually, your half chaps WILL cut it if they are clean and your paddock boots are shiny! Caroline always wears half chaps because she says her tall boots are "slippery." eesh.

I want to throw up already. LOL! Those were my feelings too back in the day. I never really enjoyed competing. Can't handle the stress! But was still happy to ride. But objectively tho, you'll be fine. BN is small, and you can SHOVE your horse over if you have to, I've done it! Plus you have time to prepare, and D is a nice sane horsey. You'll be just fine!

Good Luck, I always have trouble signing up the beginning of each season. I usually don't have the nerve until July. I talk to my horse the entire xcountry part. Good Luck! Is the dressage on grass? Have you school at this place before?

Best of luck. A few years ago a good friend of mine got all serious and said, "We were crazy." Referring to how we rode when we where in our twenties. ;D Come to think of it, she's the only one that's gotten a lot saner in that department.
