Years ago (before I decided I was too old to hit the ground anymore), I was the "Equine Troubleshooter". I retrained "problem" horses to be safe, enjoyable companions and in the process, I was often asked what to look for when buying a horse. Today, I resurrected an article that I wrote about 15 years ago to put on my website. I had saved it all these years and a kick in the pants from a good friend finally spurred me into actually figuring out the html to put it onto my Damrock Farm website. Anyways, here it is, although this might not be the perfect forum for it considering that most of us here are dealing with ex-racers, lol. www.damrockfarm.com/BUYAHORSE.html

Very sound advice. So many people get sucked in because the horse is pretty and make an emotional decision that hurts them later.

Lol Suzy, it was a long time ago. I've been here for 10 years and I actually didn't do much training for the few years before that while I was managing Morningside Farm. I'm surprised you remember.
