Yes, the primitive camping is first-come, first-served, BUT I was just wondering if they thought there would be anything open on Thursday night, which is kind of pushing it since Rolex is already in full swing by then... We used to go down as early as Tuesday to get sites, but that was for the real campground, and it was before they allowed reservations, so the whole place was first-come, first-served.

No, I'm not planning on camping. What I'm planning on doing is going to Rolex on Thursday evening, check into my NICE WARM HOTEL! (HAHAHAA) then run over and save a couple open spots for people in the primitive campging area. (no electric, potty, water, etc. It's a field) What I want to make sure of is that you people don't drive for 17 hours in the middle of the night only to arrive and find that the primitive field has been completely filled and that I didn't "save" you a spot!
Here's the deal though --we were talking about a bigger exracer reunion on the 10th anniversary of our first one --2014. If we really want to do that, we'll have to reserve our camping spots ON THE FIRST DAY AFTER THE 2013 ROLEX, believe me. You can reserve spots up to 365 days in advance. And people do that, so you have to act fast.

It may not be Rolex in 2014 :/ FEI declined to renew sponsorship with Rolex, I heard. Not sure how that will exactly affect Rolex Kentucky?

I'll make it there again one year. This year and next are the years of school. Seems to take so damn long to add a simple AS to one's resume. And I already have all my pre-reqs done via my BA.

Oh yes you are a DEFINITE maybe for 2014 CC! haha And Welkin I hadn't heard anything about downgrading Rolex TDE in 2014, but that would be a bummer huh? Maybe it would make it easier to get a campsite? LOL~!
OK wait I read that wrong. You say FEI didn't renew their sponsorship from Rolex Watches? OK, so maybe it will be the LandRover TDE in 2014 or something? I could deal with that.

Yes Caroline, I have promised to "save"you a site in the primitive camping area but read carefully. You have to do something first. You have to call the campground and ask them if they think that sites will be AVAILABLE on Thursday night of Rolex... That's the thing that I can't guarantee. And since I won't be there at 2 a.m. Friday morning when you arrive, that would be bad! Now if the campground says "Oh yah, there are ALWAYS plenty of primitve sites left all through the weekend..." then I will promise you to get one. And one for Terrie too! I'll hoist up an exracer flag there, for you to find it. haha ( at 2 a.m.? eesh it's gonna be dark!)

Smay, I called and they said non-electric sites will for sure be available, and there may even be electric sites open. So looks like we're camping! The bf wants to buy some camping gear so I'll let you know what we may need to borrow  |

That's awesome to know then! I have most of the "stuff" if you want to borrow, but sounds like your boyfriend wants to buy camping things and if that makes him happy, well, you know!\
