Charm and I jumped today! Well, of course it was a tiny X-rail with 2 trotting poles in front of it. We walked over it first, then trotted, then she figured out she could actually 'lift' and on the 4th pass or so she actually jumped it, and cantered on! It was a slow and tense canter, but a canter nonetheless. I let her come back to a trot on her own. When we came back to the trotting poles she jumped them and trotted the X-rail ;D The vet came, gave her the spring shots in her stall and she stood, untied and very relaxed. He liked her Someone at the barn asked me if I was going to ride Charm in tomorrow's dressage show

I'm so jealous! Poor Porter is just hanging out in a run right now getting fat ;D I'm so despirate to start him, but at the last time at the vet, he thinks I have to wait until :curse: OCTOBER!! I'm dying here!! At least he's getting fat!
Congrats on Charm! Have you cantered her yet?

WONDERFUL! I'm so happy you two are getting on so well, cause you know I picked her out of the 'lineup' right away. I thought she was a special one. Don't worry it won't be long before the dressage shows!

ohhhh... I am so envious... mind you it is St Pat Day tomorrow so the green face is ok.. :hahaha: :hahaha:
I am going to have a day with my Lily today, she definatly has calmed down compared to last week... I am going to try slipping onto her bareback because I am so worried that the saddle I have got isn't suitable at all.
You have fun with Charm and I am sure that in no time at all we will be up where you are too.

Oh how exciting.... Charm is coming along so quickly!!!! Great for you. It took me 2 1/2 years to get to the same place with Red! I now have Red and Diego both started. Diego needs to now catch up on jumping with Red.... I have little miss Xena to play with as soon as some of the snow goes away.....she is 2 years old, but she will have the basics to go over and Mr. Fred will be back in the spring for me to advance him..... going to be a great year!!!

Cool. Jumping already. :sun: Yeah! Charm. What a super girl. Was going to work on my jumps today, but wouldn't it figure, my batteries are dead on my drill. So left that charging and went to the barn. ;D Flynn is a mudball, Zen's being turned out in the indoor to make putting stuff on his hoof easier. Don't have to get all that mud off first. Though I did get a lot of hair off him today. He is doing well, but still a bit off. Bet he's fine in about a week. Will have my shoer out next week as he's due for a trim anyway. Maybe we can get to the bottom of it too. I'm not going to have him dig for it though, unless of course Zen goes lame again.

Thanks guys I don't really consider this "jumping" per se, it's just another way to keep her busy, and a trick to get her to canter hehehe. I actually tried to get her to canter from a trot and she just gave me this warp-speed trot LOL. Since all we've done is trotting, she obviously was confused. I didn't push the canter thing, I want to have an empty arena to do that. Yesterday there were 2 lessons and a few boarders riding. Charm isn't fazed at all by the commotion, but considering our less-than-perfect steering I don't want to crash into anyone!! Lynne, hubby will come with me to see Charm for the first time today! If I can I'll tack her up and he'll take pics. But there's a show, so it might not be feasable. Soon! Soon!

How tall is Charm? I'm looking at the pics and if that's you holding her tacked up, she looks huge! Or is it that you're tiny? ;D

Wonderful wonderful! "Charm" is such a fitting name, isn't it. Sounds like fun and we are all so happy for you and for the lucky Charm who gets to be YOUR own sweet horse.

Thanks guys...I like her a lot!
