I don't follow directions very well! Brought home a different stack of books this evening: Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer (Hubby raves about it and read half of the book aloud to me when he was reading it) Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks (I started it, and now friends demand I finish it) The Choir, by Joanna Trollope and The Double Bind, by Chris Bohjalian (My boss told me to read these--not in a bossy way--in a helpful librarian who knows what you might like sort of way. I think she wanted me to stop browsing the stacks and get back to work, too.)

Ok, I finished this book, finally. The first part was good, the middle was painfully slow, and the end was ok. I liked her as a character, but predicted the ending even before he left her. The only part that I was on the edge of my seat was the scene where she was shooting at the boys and then locked up. It was ok but I don't know that I'll read anything else by this author...

That's interesting you only found it "so-so", Filly. For me its appeal was not so much the story as the whole atmosphere / settings and the way it was written.
Which reminds me, I still haven't read the other titles she mentions in the interview at the end of her book. Gotta do that!

I liked it for the same reasons as you niaru.
