Registered Selle Francais Mare, pretty bay, big barreled, 15.2 hands, 13 years old.
Lovely mover, great conformation. She placed 6th in hand at Devon as a 2 yr. old, shown successfully over fences and in dressage. She has been my personal riding horse for the past 6 years, used for dressage lessons (1st and 2nd level movements), occasional jumping, trails. Easy keeper, no vices. Loads easily, trailers well.
Very sound, safe to ride and handle even for novice horseperson. Would make a perfect mother-daughter share horse; can do a beginner lesson in the morning and school second level dressage in afternoon. Also great horse for weekend rider, sane and fun even when not ridden regularly. Will be foxhunted this fall if not sold. Vetted breeding sound, wonderful bloodlines, but I haven't had the time or facilities to breed her.
$5000, negotiable--wonderful, loving home is far more important than price. Would consider payments or lease to right home, or even partial lease on-site at my barn. Only for sale because she deserves more time and attention than I can give her, but I am in no rush to sell. Looking for the perfect home, and owner who will enjoy her as much as I have.
Located in Marcellus, NY, near Syracuse/Rochester, can be tried indoors. lghocelot@aol.com.
Recent pics coming soon, can email older ones.

That's really cool IF! I used to live in Marcellus way back when.... miss it a LOT, even though I haven't lived there since I was 15! haha ( in my 50s now). I lived on Limeledge Rd. Got my very first horse when some neighbors "donated" their grade gelding to me - and I learned to ride on that critter! We should get Niaru to buy your mare... her first horse was a Selle Francais mare too - the original "Niaru!"

Smay, it's a tiny little world - my barn is right around the corner from Limeledge Road -- I drive it every day. Maybe you even know the farm, on Stump Rd. It was a huge racing/breeding operation for many years, into the '80s, and the buildings are brick tudor-looking, with brick fencing. It's called Darby Manor now, but I'm not sure whether the name stayed when the TBs moved out. There are still a few retired broodies there.
I really want to find the perfect home for Foxy. I took her when her elderly former owner was unable to care for her, and left her to the neglect of her son. She'd developed some appalling ground manners and forgotten how to canter, but for the past few years she's been fun. But my 4 year old OTTB demands all my time, and the Foxmeister needs to find her own special home where she can be the center of attention she prefers to be. She is, afterall, French!

That's really cool IF. YES of course I remember that farm like it was yesterday.... when you're a kid, you memorize every detail of every pasture and field and farm that contains even a single horse! In MY days on Limeledge Rd. I lived two houses down from a guy by the name of Mr. Horsington, believe it or not, who owned two magnificant Morgan geldings, who he would drive in a sleigh, smack down the center of the road, about once or twice a year... the highlight of my life when he came down Limeledge with sleigh bells ringing on that road that was pretty much covered with snow for 9 months of the year! hahaha. And down the road another direction was a huge field filled with pretty much feral Shetland ponies, into which I would sneak as it was getting dark, and LEAP onto whichever was closest to a fence...hang on... and GALLOP wildly across the field until they dumped me. Now THAT was fun. And highly unethical. Behind our house was a huge overgrown former nursery, filled with remnant fruit trees and we could just ride through and eat peaches, pears, apples, and plums all day long. Boy do I miss Marcellus, New York! I know you'll find the perfect place for Foxy. She sounds like a peach, too!

Thanks, SeeU - I didn't get the PM, but I can be reached at the email listed. I thought she was sold, but the mother of the young rider who was interested is looking for more polished dressage than Foxy is fit enough to do right now (she's been lightly ridden since I bought my youngster last fall, and had July - September completely off thanks to aforementioned OTTB breaking my finger in June)--and thinks she's going to find that for under $5K... sigh. My trainer loves, LOVES Foxy, because she is so willing and forgiving and fun for all kinds of riders. She's using her in lessons, for advanced students as well as advanced-beginners, to get her as much mileage as possible. She is safe as milk over fences; I have a little video of my haven't-jumped-in-a-year butt bouncing around on her over little gynmastics (2'3" to 2'6") with no hands and putting her at bad spots, demonstrating how honest and sweet she is. I'll make a decent dressage video and some more "grown-up" jumping over real fences soon. www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7Uy0gnR1KkI love this horse to death, and I'm seriously considering keeping her over the winter and polishing her up, then asking closer to what she's worth in the spring. I thought the low price would make it easier to find her a safe, great home, but in fact the lower-end shoppers are tougher to deal with than the more educated ones in many ways. However, I would definitely let her go if she was going to a great place -- like to an exracer's trainer!

Thanks for the video clip. I am putting that and her equine.com ad in an email to trainer. Hopefully she'll check that (she's a little bad about checking emails daily). She looks like what that girl needs, imho. Hopefully trainer and parents will agree PS I love that you dropped the reins over the 1st fence. I hate doing that, but it shows a lot about the mare

Thanks, SeeU. The mare is a character, but she is just plain fun to ride, whatever your level. She also has silent heats, which deterred me from breeding her (didn't want her away at the vet's for a month), but is super convenient for a riding horse.
For reference on her suitability for the size of rider, I am 5'7" -- she takes up a fair amount of leg for a smaller horse.
